Hagstrom Fantomen Electric Guitar

This elegantly asymmetrical mahogany solidbody Fantomen guitar is the result of collaboration between Hagstrom and Swedish rock 'n' roll giants, Ghost.

I'm someone who usually shy's away from lesser known guitar brands, for better or worse. But as a diehard Ghost fan I had to pick one of these up, if for no other reason than to have it as a collector's item.I'm happy to say I'm pleasantly surprised how well this guitar plays and feels. It was set up very well, has great playability, and the neck feels great. It's missing locking tuners but the tuners it has do seem sturdy and reliable. If you are looking to play high gain metal music, you probably won't love the pickups. They are not high output. However they do have a really nice and smooth character to them that sounds really cool. The ability to split coil let's you get some really cool tones, especially cleans. For what the pickups were built to do, they do it very very well. The guitar doesn't come with a gig bag, which is really annoying. I don't like the idea of guitars being thrown around by FedEx employees without at least a little bit of protection. The guitar was in mint condition with no damage, but still. Gig bags are pretty cheap, and it would at least be good if we had the option to pay an extra $30 for one or whatever. For a guitar in this price range, I don't think it's too much to ask to include one. zZounds was great as usual. They shipped it out quick and the process was as painless as ever. I wish I could say the same for FedEx. zZounds, PLEASE consider not using FedEx anymore. This is the third time I have ordered something and FedEx has screwed up delivery, causing a delay in me receiving the package. Not your fault, but seriously FedEx absolutely sucks.

I have never played a Hagstrom EVER!! I bought this guitar because it had the RD vibe to it and I really liked that body shape. I decided to take a chance and buy this guitar. When it arrived ...BAMMM!! I was immediately blown away. The guitar plays like butter! The pickups are perfect for the range of music I play, very versatile! Hagstrom has my eyes wide open with this excellent guitar!!!

I received two of these; the first one had a solid chunk out of the headstock. The second one has some minor flaws but cosmetically is sound overall. The fret ends protrude a bit as well.Aside from the frets the playability is very good. The stock pickups sound great as well; there's nothing compelling me to swap them out. OK value overall. For the price there are better guitars, though. If they included the gig bag or reduced the price accordingly this would be a great bargain.

It looks just like a stretched and modified Gibson RD from 1977...which gives it a unique but somewhat copied look that has already been done, and better because these guitars don't even have rosewood or ebony fingerboards. Gibson used maple, rosewood and ebony This fingerboard is synthetic and unacceptable: Basically a synthetic version of ebony. It's made from layers of paper and phenolic resin. Do want your fingers rubbing into that stuff?
