Been playing for 50 plus years. For sound, tone, and quality one would expect to pay much more than the $850 I payed for mine. It’s a great instrument and definitely won’t be the last Gretsch I buy.

Musical Background:

50 years playing guitar and keyboard. Mostly jam at home now

Musical Style:

Country, rock, and blues

I was lucky enough to stumble onto a first generation G5622T, the model with three Super HiLoTrons. For starters, nothing needed upgraded. Grover tuners, a threesom of Gretsch's most versatile pickups, a Bigsby, and a very stable tune-o-matic bridge. It's all there. Add the unique switching system, plug into your favorite amp and spend the rest of the day finding out what this thing can do. Build quality is beyond what I expected. In fact, I've had Gretsches that cost four times what I paid for this, and they are not built any better than it.

Musical Background:

60+ years and still out at least twice a week.

"I honestly bonded with this G5622T immediately"

I have been playing guitar since about 1964. I have owned as many as 26 guitars at any one time. Of all brands and quality levels.I took a shot in the dark in buying this G5622T from Gretsch. I have wanted a Gretsch for longer than I can remember but just never got around to it until now.I decided to try this one out so if I didn't like it in any way I could just return it. Zzounds is wonderful on that policy. The guitar right out of the box amazed me. Like no other guitar at any price. I have always needed to do some form of a set up to every one but this one.It plays just perfect. Intonation was dead on using an Peterson high end tuner. The neck carve was so comfortable. The string nut was flawlessly shaped and cut.The non USA model Bigsby works fine. I did lube the string nut, bridge saddles to help prevent tuning loss when using the Bigsby but that should be done anyway. Now here is where it really shines. The Blacktop Broadtron pickups are very sweet. The neck pickup has all that warm, "woody" like tone you would expect and the bridge pickup has the right amount of brilliance and cut without that "icepick" shrill response. The ability to control your overall sound is easy with the use of the master volume and individual pickup volume controls with a master tone control. The Bigsby adds a little weight to it over say a Gibson 335 but it's not extreme. It feels solid in build quality and fit & finish was as good as it gets. This is one time I made a guitar purchase and have never looked back, no regrets whatsoever.

"Don’t buy one"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I purchased a 5622 in July 2018 and only use it at home for practice. To date I have had to replace the cable inpu jack as it fell apart and into the guitar body. Recently the rear guitar strap peg fell out and will no longer stay in place...Caveat Emptor....this guitar is cheaply made.I also own a Fender American Professional Tele and a Rick 330..the quality of the 5622 pales in comparison

Musical Background:

playing for about 5 years amateur only
