I was surprised to fall in love with this model one day while shopping for an SG at our local music mega store. It had all the features I was looking for with classic styling at a very affordable price. When I checked online, all the major retailers were at the same price; a week later when I was ready to buy all the major sellers had increased their price on the tobacco burst model by $150! So I kept an eye out for a returned, blemished or used one and found this one for hundreds less than list. I had done this before with a different retailer and was very happy so I jumped on it. I couldn't be happier! The blemish was a very minor headstock chip, understandably returned by the original purchaser who paid full price, but fine for this working musician who tends to play rather than display his gear. I would not hesitate to recommend both this guitar and zzounds "used" gear. Thanks zzounds!

Musical Background:

Been playing pretty much anything I've picked up since '74, but guitar is my first love.

Musical Style:

Alt country

At first I wasnt very thrilled with this guitar. It had THE sound I was after with balls and clarity and tone ....but as soon as you moved the volume below 9 it turned dull /blah / uninspiring. I put a cap across the volume pot to keep the treble when turning the vol down and "presto" the guitar goes from a 5 to an 8. The next problem was intonation. the bridge just didnt go far enough backward and all the notes were sharp. I had to resort to pulling the bridge /filling the holes with dowels and re-drilling the holes 1/4" farther back. (shame on you gibson) No it is perfect as it sits without using the set screws to move the bridge. this guitar is now a 9.5 !! I can roll back the volume and get a great clean /i can turn it up and it just wants to . tear things up. I love the guitar now , but out of the box it was a bit of a lemon with the bridge mounted too far forward. This guitar has the sound I have always wanted from a LP and never got , till now.
