I really love the guitar. Always wanted a nice Les Paul. The 57 classics are great pickups. Gibson's quality is the best. This model had everything I wanted. Handwired, ABR bridge, Orange Drop capacitors and 500k pots. As a company, Gibson has started to pay attention to what people want and will pay money for. I'd rather spend more and get a non power control board if I could. Locking tuners are nice too. The only cons I can see is that mine has a dime sized flaw in the plating on the tailpiece that isnt very noticable, but wont polish out. Mine also didn't come with a strap and not sure why.

"Gibson Heritage Cherry Classic Les Paul."

It's beautiful and seems a good axe and reasonably priced for a Gibson. However, as much as I like it, in terms of real quality and playability it nowhere matches my 11&1/2 lb. 1998 Gibson Heritage Cherry Burst Classic Les Paul. Neither does it match it in sustainability or tonality. Also, just yesterday it was $1499, I wake up this morning and it's $1599 WT????. Anyway, it's a nice guitar for the money and I have no regrets purchasing it. What can I say? I love Les Paul guitars almost as much as I love my wife.
Sound
It's a bit woody sounding for a LP and with less sustain than earlier models that weren't as weight relieved. Also it lacks somewhat (compared to earlier models) in overall playability because the action is set too high, and even lowering the bridge doesn't seem to alleviate this problem. Another fact is the necks aren't uniformly straight as would be expected in an instrument costing nearly $2000.
Features
Classic "57's don'y marry well with this much weight relief and the neck angle needs modifying somewhat to enable easier and smoother playability.
Ease of Use
The Classic "57's sound muddy in this model, I think mainly due to too much weight relief. Not much of a learning curve though since it's still a Les Paul. It's fairly easy to utilize with the mainstream components (boxes, amps etc) but even with the locking Grovers it still fights to maintain tuning.
Quality
It's built like a tank.
Value
Yes, even the worst gibsons in the world are still light years better in quality than the very best of the others, and they know it. This is why they don't return calls or emails.
Manufacturer Support
I've been dealing with Gibson for over 50 years and they've never been the most customer friendly company in the world. The few problems I've ever had with the product I've always had to figure out and fix them myself or take to a luthier. Gibson has never even returned a call.
The Wow Factor
It's a Les Paul, the God of guitars that no others ever can sound, play, or feel as good when playing, or sound as good when listening. New ones even have their own scent and aroma. Of course I want it whether playing music or not because my life revolves around these guitars. To me and the musicians I know and love, the Les Paul is holy.
