I own a 2010 Advanced Jumbo ive owned since new. The AJ is the Gibson on steroids and a totally different animal than J45s or any other Gibson model. These are on the level of a HD28V Martin. The AJ is a rosewood, long scale, scalloped forward shifted bracing guitar with a very thin top. This makes it a very LOUD and POWERFUL acoustic guitar. Gibsons are known to be low in volume and dry sounding.....but the AJ is a booming loud guitar thats full of tone. It was designed in the 1930s to compete with the pre war Martin D28 and earned the nickname " The Bone Crusher". The Advanced Jumbo is Gibsons supreme Bluegrass guitar thats the loudest instrument in the room, even heard above the Banjo. If you like the loud booming tone of a Martin D28 but love the looks of a Sunburst Gibson guitar then the Advanced Jumbo is for you. I have owned several Martin D28 models and various other guitars and the Advanced Jumbo is easily the loudest most powerful acoustic guitar I have ever played. These aren't a J45 folks....they are a 6 string cannon. The coolest thing is most people have no clue what they are and the WOW factor is 10+. People will flock to you wanting to know what the heck kind of Gibson guitar your playing that is drowning out every Martin in the room! They are fantastic for bluegrass Rhythm and cut like a knife in lead breaks. They also are a blues player dream....having that Gibson round shoulder tone but having much more volume than J45s.

I ordered a Gibson Iron Mountain Advanced Jumbo, but I received a Gibson Luthiers Choice AJ. Since it was their mistake, Zzounds would either return at their expense or take some money off if I wanted to keep the Luthiers Choice. I took the deal and am very happy with the Luthiers Choice. It is a great guitar and I got a nice discount.

Musical Background:

Played guitars since 1970, but only for myself at home.

Musical Style:

Folk country. Lightfoot, Willie, Denver, Seger
