Gibson 2018 Limited Edition Thunderbird Electric Bass (with Case)

The mighty, all-mahogany Thunderbird Bass gets a boost in sustain thanks to a Babicz Full Contact bridge, making the tone of its T-Bird pickups even beefier.

This bass rocks! It comes in a really nice case and has some other goodies in there too. The bass it's self is really nice. The nitro lacquer is thin and you can feel a little of the wood grain under it. Mine came perfectly set up. Just needed to be tuned. The new babicz bridge is pretty solid too. The neck is nice and thin. Almost like a jazz bass but not as deep. The tuners work well and everything is put together well. It's also not too heavy or light. The pickups are hot with a lot definition. Using a pick gets you that classic thunderbird growl. Really the only thing I didn't like were the factory strings. That's easily fixed though. All in all its a great bass with its own vibe. It's a pure rock n roll bass, don't expect to play jazz and funk without playing with your eq a lot.

This bass surpassed my expectations, came perfectly set up, low action with absolutely no buzzes. The bass has all kinds of lows but is not muddy sounding, very clear nice tone, very sturdy case, very light and balanced which again is not something I expected, this weighs less than most P basses. The pickups are powerful. The bridge is easy to adjust, the ebony color is beautiful, very deep. It can go all the way from very deep to very trebly, all in all worth every penny. I did not have to contact the manufacturer.

Musical Background:

more than 50 years.

Musical Style:

All but prefer rock and blues.

I own the black and sunburst Thunderbirds and I have to say the sound can’t be achieved with any other bass. Very smooth and crisp and plays like butter. I also own two Fender MIM PJ special! They are also great but not for the style music I play. Now Zzounds was so easy to work with. Did the talking back and forth using the chat option on a Sunday. Got a great brand new bass for a great price and after the Sunday night order, it arrived safe and sound on Tuesday.

Musical Background:

I’ve been playing drums and guitar for 30 years. Just got into bass about 3 years ago and never looked back

Musical Style:

Classic rock, southern rock 60’s through 80’s music mostly.
