Gibson 2015 SG Standard Electric Bass (with Case)

Don't let the size fool you -- this devilishly good-looking short-scale bass can lay down some thick and dirty grooves thanks to its two T-bird pickups.

"GIbson 2015 SG Bass"

I bought this bass last week as I was in the market and was wanting something different from my Fenders. This is my first GIbson I have ever owned and it certainly won't be my last. I was very skeptical about the short scale but the thick fingerboard and neck fit my left hand and my picking technique really well! The 30.5" scale gives this bass much play-ability and the neck is really quick. (I'm 6' with average/large hands and the 30.5 still feels great) You can get the action REALLY low without any buzz. My neck is almost totally straight and every note comes through very well. The electronics are sturdy and the pickups sound fantastic. You can get a good range of sound with the TBird plus and mini. This is the only bass I've heard that can come close to the deep low that my PBass produces. Using the treble pickup, you can get a nice smooth 'honky' sound. Playing high notes sound fantastic as you can go from a smooth, deep sound, all the way to a punchy, hard hitting sound. I've also noticed that the truss rod is very sturdy and doesn't easily bow back in. The turning ratio is also much higher than other truss rods so you can get a more precise bed/bow in the neck. The bass is very lightweight. I noticed the neck-dive (like any other SG model) but I easily fixed it with a nice suede strap. The finish looks amazing and the cosmetic features are better than any other instrument I've ever owned. This is now become my main bass alongside my 50's Pbass. I highly recommend this to any bass player that covers a wide genre of tunes and has the bread to spend on a quality, well detailed bass. Cheers :)

I just received my SG Bass, I ordered a "Blemished" for just a little over 1k. What a beauty! Set up is near perfect out of the case. I inspected this bass very closely and cannot find a single flaw, The only thing I could find that I think it may have been returned for is a slight bend in the aluminum frame of the awesome Gibson flight case it comes in. I'm pretty sure I can bend it right back in place with a rubber mallet. All the latches still function and case still works as it should even with the bend. So, I just got a brand new Gibson SG bass for about 1k and it sounds and plays as sweet as it looks! Love the short scale! Being a guitar player first, Playing this SG Bass is so much easier than just about every other bass I have tried. The neck dive people complain about does not affect me, I use a 3 inch wide suede strap and it keeps it from moving at all. Also, Most of the time I am using it to record so I'm sitting down. Very comfy when seated! Thank you zZounds for a great deal on a super instrument

"This Bass is Perfect! Same feel as a 1968 Gibson EB-3 with more tonal options."

I owned a 1968 Gibson EB-3, loved it, but I had to let it go. This new Gibson has the same feel, more tonal options, improved tuning, more accurate and much more stable intonation, individual string height adjustments, and more sustain. I bought this as a blemished sale, and I have yet to find a blemish anywhere on the bass. I'm not sure why it was sold as blemished, but it is perfection to me. If you want the same sound of a 1968 EB-3, and more tonal options to dial in the same tones as other basses, you can't go wrong. Don't be scared to buy blemished. I got a perfect bass and it was "blemished."

"Gibson SG Bass"

This bass is the worst I have ever played .It had serious problems with the neck. It was supposed to have lower frets and action ,but it didn't and even with adjustments it would not be something anyone I know would use. I have a $200 Squire Jaguar bass that would be rated a 10 compared to this SG. Loved the tone when the strings didn't buzz or have a funny resonance.
