This is a very user friendly, quick set-up interface that I found almost perfect. The ONLY problem is that it's not for Mac OS earlier than Lion so if you're looking for something that can travel easily and running OS 10.8 you'll love this and the price is very affordable.

The preamp sounds really good and clean and I can have the latency all the way down with no trouble. I use it with a Audio-Technica AT4040

Latency was my biggest issue with home recording. For some reason Asio4all was not working on my laptop properly. I read other reviews of this product and it sounded like just what I needed. Now all my problems are gone and I can concentrate on the music rather than the frustration of recording in an echo chamber.

On my Macbook the Scarlett is plug and play. Super fast set-up, which is important to me since I am using this on a laptop and disconnect it daily. I also like that this model doesn't utilize the monitoring software that the Scarlets with more I/O use. The blend nob is super convenient for getting a level between input and playback. Bus powered. It doesn't get more simple than this. And the sound capture is pro.

I purchased the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 because I was looking for clean, quiet mic pres at an affordable price. What I got was clean, quiet mic pres that I hardly ever use because Focusrite drivers are absolutely terrible.
Clicks and pops galore no matter the buffer size. BSOD's. The device absolutely refuses to release for multiple application use about 90% of the time regardless of DAW or OS settings. Downloaded ASIO4All and hoped for the best. The AI doesn't even play nice with the most universal ASIO drivers available.
Total waste of money.
