Upgraded to the Clarett from the Scarlett Solo, the change is massive. The Clarett is built like a tank. Took some time to get it going, only to see it does not connect with ASMedia USB controller chip. No trouble with add-on card or AMD USB 3.0. The audio is more rich sounding and deep. No pops, dropouts or crackles while performing. Everything will install fine and be seen in device manager, but if the wrong USB port is used (ASMedia) the Focusrite Control software will say "No Hardware Connected". It will remain non-functional. But once connected the first thing it does is upgrade the Firmware. Going to duplicate the stereo speakers with jacks 3 & 4 and run them all at the same time, a high gain stack. It looks like USB Type C is just for the electrical requirements. Plugged into USB 3.0 the Clarett is in standby mode, until the AC adapter is activated. I was going to get the Apollo, but they passed over a major hardware update and will not accommodate AMD.

I'm not the guy that needs to measure nanoseconds of latency, rather, I'm just looking for what works exceptionally well for my application. The Focusrite Clarret 2pre is it. It provides me with an excellent clean signal in and out, and simple to use setup, which allows me to focus all my attention on the mix.
