"Light Weight! Loud! And Well Worth It!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I think I am set. I don't want to lug equipment around. This monitor has 2 features, Loud, and light weight. The sound is good for a monitor. You will not get the sound of a guitar amp or acoustic amplifier from it, unless you go through a processor first. But for the most part, thats why it is a monitor, it should be flat and dry.
Sound
This is a monitor, not a main speaker, or a music instrument amplifier. Keep in mind, there is no EQ, simple tone knob and volume knob. The sound is VERY LOUD! I can't even turn it past 2 without it really getting up there. During a concert I might push it to 3 if the stage volume is loud. My acoustic guitar is really hot though. Others may need to turn it up a tad more. But as far as volume, this little and Very "light weight" monitor with amp, is very very LOUD! Great and perfect for me. I won't be using a stage amp for a long time now. This thing is just too convenient and a highly recommended product for those who need something small with a lot of volume.
Quality
Made well, with high density plastic, and over all good speaker.
Value
Very worth the dollar value. I have spent more and lost out. You can't go wrong with this monitor.

"If all you want is relatively loud, this might work for you. However, the sound quality is below average."

The Yamaha MSR-100 totally blows away the Fender 1270P. Yes, the Yamaha costs about $100.00 more but it is an order of magnitude better than the Fender. I really expected much more quality from a Fender product.
Sound
The line input (using a CD player as a source) sounded really bad. The highs were distorted and the overall sound was nowhere near flat. When using the Amp In input (bypasses tone controls) the sound improved but was still unsatisfactory (very edgy). I think the problems were related to cheap tone control circuits and a really bad choice of high-frequency driver for this product.
Features
The size was what attracted me to this monitor in the first place...small.
Value
It's not worth the price. Even though it cost me $50 to ship it back, I know I would not use it if I kept it.

"A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT"

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Distorting after a few months of use - will not last long
Sound
Our church bought one of these as a keyboard amp....BAD CHOICE - this is not much good as a instrument amp. It is intended as a PA monitor and nothing more. Out of the box it sounded HORRIBLE - and needed a long burn-in time of a good week or two before it started to sound a little more sweeter. However, treble is still ragged and colored. Bass is ok and this amp can kick loud, but if you are looking for clarity for those glorious synth sounds - FORGET IT. Will probably work better as a guitar amp. After some months, it has started to distort now and there is a persistant slight hum that was not there before. Looking to replace this as soon as possible.....FENDER should just stick to guitar amplification and nothing else.
Features
The input volume control is SO sensitive as it was designed to handle mic levels as well as line levels. THere is no hi/lo switch which would have helped a lot - or separate mic and line inputs. Too much cost savings here makes this hard to set up.
Ease of Use
Fiddly to set up as said before.
Quality
ok for the road - fairly rugged - nice looking - that is about all I can say about that...
Value
Cheap - but you get what you pay for - pay a little more and get a Yamaha instead.
Manufacturer Support
No comment - did not use support
The Wow Factor
A bad investment

"If you don't have to... Don't"

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars

It still works after about 6 years, but when I have the money I will upgrade. It's the kind of thing that just makes you frustrated to think about.
Sound
It has a nasty hum, perhaps a power conditioner would help. Our other stuff sounds fine though so it's not like it's just bad power.
Quality
The power jacks have come loose from the body, got it fixed, now I can hear something rattleing around inside when I move it.
Value
Cheap, but it's the item I would use to say "let's not get stuck with another one like this"

Fender 1270P Monitor Customer Review

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Might be fine for home use for people on a strict budget. Not acceptable for a hard-working gigging musician.
Sound
This Fender monitor sounded good for a couple of months, but is cheaply made, and now is sounding distorted and needs service. The owners manual does not mention warranty repair at all.
Features
Features are useful, but parts are cheapest available. Not roadworthy.
Ease of Use
Easy to use.
Quality
This monitor is not well made. The parts are cheap, the fit and finish is poor. Not roadworthy!
Value
Cheap is not always good value. This monitor proves that.
