Fender Frontman 15R Amp Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
Sounds good. If you pick it up and move it while it's on, it makes a static like noise because of the spring reverb.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use. Don't even really need the manual.
Quality
Looks beautiful.
Value
It's a small affordable amp.

"Great Amp!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'd love it for a long time...until i get myself a Line 6 at least...those things rule...
Sound
It is a GREAT sounding amp. if my next door neighbour didn't go off to university, rest assured, i'd have it in my room for 4 years straight. its a blast to play. guitars i have used with it: Fender Strat - sounds INSANE, B.C. Rich Warlock Body Art Maggot Man: used my buddy's ME-50 processor. once again, sounds great. also, my acoustic guitar, a Takamine G530S, with a Dean Markley Promag Plus pickup ROARS with this little box.
Features
the reverb is ok, although a little lower quality than i'd expect from fender. great volume. lovin it.
Quality
seems well made to me...i mean i didn't drop it or anything, but it felt solid, so, thumbs up yet again.
Value
I'd say judging by the prices i've seen in stores, GREAT VALUE! BUY IT!
Manufacturer Support
never dealt with them...although i'm sure they're very nice people.
The Wow Factor
Its a black guitar amp. as if we don't see enough of these suckers nowadays. but yeah the silver fabric definitely looks good.

"Alright....."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I think if you're starting, this is a good buy... if you're and attempt to USE IT ON STAGE........your band's helpless!!!! LOL.
Sound
The clean channel, which fender specializes in, sounds incredible coming from this little amp......but the DISTORTION.....i swear i've had better farts that get more tone than this thing... it sounds like the speaker is about to fly across the room when i play something fast...like i said, fender dous a good job cleaning up the sound, not a bad amp for size, a little overpriced, not bad though.
Features
It has some good tone, and was very easy to use.
Ease of Use
LIke i said, the distortion is horrible.
Quality
i'll give it credit, i don't think i've heard better clean tone coming from a 15 watter!!!!
Value
i wish that the distortion was better, if you're a blues fan, or want a good, clean sound, go with this thing.
Manufacturer Support
havn't had many problems...yet
The Wow Factor
what's so hot looking about it??????? i like the chrome on the fender logo, that's about it. it just looks like a fender amp!!!!!

"Cool Fender tone"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
The amp has a great clean tone. I recommend replacing the speaker with an Italian made Jensen MOD 8" inch model.
Sound
This amps controls confused me because there are two drive knobs but one is labeled as volume. I had this amp for months before I figured out how to get a clean tone which sucks big time. I have the Chinese model with the silver grill and the excellent reverb built in. Stay clear of that Indonesia amp model. The Chinese amp is the one to buy. The amp sounds fantastic being played clean with both drive knobs turned low, it sounds like a real fender tube amp with my Jensen 8 inch mod speaker replacement. The amp has an oustanding clean tone but if your looking for any kind of distortion for heavy rock I would advise not to buy this amp.
Features
good features for the price, the reverb on my Chinese amp is excellent
Quality
The amp is real high quality
Manufacturer Support
5 year warranty
The Wow Factor
I don't have the bucks for a big Fender tube amp and I could not handle the volume anyway. Even a 15 watt tube amp is to much for practice. Tube amps are much louder than transistor amps.

"Ok for very low volume on clean only."

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I had it for only a few months and becahe frustrated with the hum (in channel 2) and bought a small tube combo amp (super Champ XD). I would never buy a 15R.
Sound
The 15R is OK for an in inpensice practice APM. I believe that the clean sounds good for an 8" speaker - don't expect much in the bass frequencies --- highs are good ... Forget channel 2.
Features
The reverb is useless - don't buy it. Like the ability to plug in external sounds - play tunes from my netbook!
Ease of Use
I got this amp when I bought a used guitar. Was new to guitar amps and had a hard time making it sound resonable. Now that I have a better amp, I know that this one hasa a ver limited "good" range.
Quality
It is about 5 yrs old and still cranking away. Nuff said.
Value
I think it is in the 75$ range (street price). Sounds about right. Do not know about the competition.
Manufacturer Support
Have not enganged them. Do not know.
The Wow Factor
Sex appeal. It is something to have in your room and learn a few tunes in clean mode.

"Quality practice amp"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
When I got this amp about a year ago the distortion worked fine, but the reverb had and still has absolutly no effect. Also when the distortion is turned to max it creates a staticy sound when not being played. other than that its a great practice amp.
Features
distortion is sweet, but the reverb doesnt work at all, and there is no footswitch
Quality
for this price I dont think you can do any better.
Value
Very good value for what you get
Manufacturer Support
Never used support.
The Wow Factor
if you need a good practice amp this is a good pick
