I had just purchased two of Epiphone's Inspired by Gibson ES-335's. And to complete my post-pandemic guitar fleet revamp I wanted to add something a bit different ... with a little more bite to cut through a mix. My Sapphire Blue Uptown Kat was just perfect. What a great blues and rock guitar. My ES-335's play effortlessly, but somehow the Uptown Kat is easier and faster to play. And the sound is unique yet complementary to the 335's. It is now the one I practice and play on. And it’s got the same Inspired by Gibson quality and build. And finally, Wow ... zZounds got it to me FAST! My second guitar from them ... and it won’t be my last. Great job zZounds!

"Epiphone Kat Semi Hollowbody Guitars"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I purchased an Epi Kat purely on a whim a couple years ago, basically because it was probably the cheapest new hollowbody on the market. Straight away I noticed the build quality - Top notch. As for playability, also top notch. Sound? Blew me away, especially considering I was playing very heavy music, from Alice in Chains to Megadeth! I swear folks, it can do it all. I don't use extreme metals low tunings, so I can't comment on that aspect, but either way, it's a fine instrument.

"Great little ES semi-hollow body"

This little guitar plays well, super smooth and relatively lightweight. It needed a setup as the frets were a little rough but this was to be expected at this price point. Overall great value for the money.

Guitar looks great, pickups sound great, BUT sadly the frets are not leveled. Many areas up the neck has fret buzz and 2 dead notes. The fretboard is smooth and the neck profile is gib on like. Just those unleveled frets are going to cost me 60.00 to get fixed. Not too happy spending money on repairs that should not be needed on a 600.00 new guitar.
