I’d been searching for another Epi SG for a while and stumbled upon the Muse. I’ve got an Alpine White Epi SG that I favor over my Gibson SG Standard. zZounds offered great customer service, and at the time was the only vendor I could find that had the Jet Black Metallic in stock. It arrived the next day. Everything appeared really nice out of the box. The synthetic nut, hardware, paint job, and construction all looked wonderful. But as we all know, brand new instruments need some tweaking. What appeared to be one high fret turned out to be 5 loose ones. They were tricky to detect. Usually they talk to you when you apply a file for leveling. But with some effort on the frets and a bit of work on the nut, this thing plays like a dream. Tone for days. There is a noticeable weight difference between this and my 2009 Gibson and it gives more growl. I needed the Dirty Deeds tone and boy did I get it. The zZounds people were very gracious about my trouble. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat.

I got mine and wanderlust green at the guitars czar store in salt lake City. By the time I got home the neck had moved just a tiny bit, but with a little adjustment, this thing is a dream!! I've discovered over 25 tonal capabilities with this instrument, and I'm still experimenting. The pickups are crisp, and clear, and warm, with a subtle nuance all their own.I can't believe that Epiphone can offer this caliber of an instrument, at this price point!! Out of the box the workmanship in craftsmanship were second to none, and the hardware is Rock solid!! Whether you're a musician just starting out, or a seasoned professional, I would recommend this guitar hands down over any other guitar in this price point!I was truly skeptical about the capabilities of the splits, but was overwhelmingly surprised by the tonal capabilities of this guitar! So get to your local store plug one in and play it and see if I'm not telling the truth!! This is an awesome instrument, with first class workmanship, and a beautiful finish!!

"Epiphone SG Muse"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I cannot. Say. Enough. This is not a budget guitar! Epiphone has out done themselves. 2020 will be the year of Epiphone. The Graph Tech nut is one of the best features, amazing. Setup was a 11/10 straight out the box. Also all the Muse finishes are amazing, but the Purple Passion Metallic...pictures doesn't do it justice! The hint sparkle is gorgeous and the finish is gloss, but not that sticky uncomfortable, and the new headstock design is sick imo. Thank you zZounds as always for the hookup, but most importantly Epiphone for a tone monster of a gorgeous instrument!

"The Muse"

So, it has been a week or so, since the arrived. I've played every day and then 5 hours for band practice. The Muse is an excellent guitar. The sound is surprising, given the pickups in it. I've a Les Paul, with the same pickups, but open coil, whereas the Muse has covered pickups. I believe, the difference is open coil vs covered. The Muse performed flawlessly. It handled everything I threw at and was ready for more! It plays well, comfortably, and sounds amazing. Mine is the pearl white. Pictures fall short. It's gorgeous! It is well worth every penny. I will say, it is of a quality you would expect in a guitar twice to three times the price.
Sound
The sound is amazing. Crystal cleans, great crunch, and face melting distortion, when needed. Quality versatility, and pure SG sound in all modes.
Features
Epiphone has hit a home run with this one! Tone wood, neck shaft and fretboard a perfect combination. Controls are solid and responsive.
Ease of Use
As with any guitar, it has its own distinct personality. It is almost second nature to achieve the sound you want.
Quality
Solid construction, durable, and built to last. This will be around a long time
Value
It's more than worth it
Manufacturer Support
No dealings with Epiphone, but zZounds is and has, always, been a joy and pleasure, with which to do business.
The Wow Factor
This will turn heads!!!!

I would first like to thank zZounds for handling the quick replacement after my original order was damaged in shipment. No ones fault, these things happen. I was smitten upon opening the original box, even with the damage. Now that I have my hands on a mint replacement, I'm seriously wowed. I can get any sound out of this I want. Country, blues, rock, funk, jazz, metal. . .it's all able to be dialed in with ease. The push pulls for splitting the coils sounds great, the phase switch gives a nice squank/quack in the middle position while split, and the volume treble circuits keep a nice crisp sound anywhere from 0.5-10 on the volume knobs. Highly recommend trying one of these guitars.
