I have only been playing guitar for about 2 years, and am by no means a great player. But very early on I had decided to start looking to upgrade my cheap acoustic. The Mako’s appearance is what initially caught my eye, I won’t lie. I started watching what little reviews on YouTube that exist on this guitar, and decided that I was going to give it a try. Then I read the poor review here on zZounds about it, and it gave me pause. Many months went by as I continued my search, when I found a Mako in a local shop. I played it for about 20 minutes, and decided that I had to have it. After a proper setup, it sounded and played even better. I won’t say that it’s the BEST. But I will say that it is a VERY nice guitar in it’s price category.

Unfortunately I am on my 3rd try at this guitar. I fell in love with the look, ordered it and the first one had severe cracks in the finish coming from the cable connection area. I returned it and when I received the second one it was (obviously a used one, which I am very upset about, the battery was in it and it was tuned) and had a 3 inch chip in the face of the guitar. I am now so frustrated, the sound was remarkable I am hoping that the 3rd one is actually going to bring me joy. Very upset at both Dean and zZounds so far for this product...3 weeks of having a guitar that I can not use..smh! also, the soft case is not a good case for this product. It is priced good, but is very cumbersome and bulky. You would have thought they would have hooked my up with a good case and strap after this debacle, but I guess it is what it is.

I recently purchased this guitar, which is my first acoustic, and I love it! The sound is fantastic. The graphics and design are very interesting. The shark gill sound holes are unique and one of reasons I bought the guitar. Overall, a great guitar for the price. Highly recommended!

"Great guitar sound, super cheap frets"

I never liked acoustic guitars until I bought this one. It sounds AWESOME plugged into effects and amps. BUT after only 3.5 years of 1-3 hours per week of playing the frets are already worn down and I'm getting "tinking" notes instead of the crisp and clear notes I used to hear. Fret wear is NOT covered in the warrantee. If the frets were higher quality I'd be raving all day, but I'm sorry I bought it.

I admit I haven't played a lot of guitars since I'm just learning, but I do know quality sound and the Mako Glory fits the bill. For an inexpensive acoustic/electric guitar the tone & sound this makes it outstanding. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't perfection for such a great price. Yes, it may not be a Taylor or Gibson, but Dean makes VERY high quality guitars and won't make you take out a loan to afford it. Highly impressed!!
