Hello. I have owned all the high end brand amplifiers over the years. I sold HiFi in my 20s and have seen and heard it all. For kicks I put this amplifier in my main stereo system pushing a large pair of 7 driver each Legacy Focus speakers. I'm very surprised by the sound quality! It drives these speakers to their limits. Bass is insane. Most pro amps I've tried throughout the years sounded thin, bright and had no bass. This amp is not like that at all. I could totally live with this amp for many years to go. It's cheap power for sure. You can only use bare wire or bananas. For bananas I took a wood screw and screwed it in slightly to the little plastic plugs in the holes and pulled them out. No spades unfortunately.

My church has had the same 3 Crown amps for nearly 22 years, just now having to replace 1, were going back with the Crown amp. best money ever spent.

First, I'm not a musician... I just received this Crown LXI2500 Class A/B amplifier and am very happy. Many folks use a Class D amp to power their Maggies, mainly due to the power these need to drive them, and the less expensive nature of Class D. I am not a Class D fan, and stumbled upon this Class A/B Crown amp. I had no clue they still produced a Class A/B amplifier and ordered it immediately. Well, I am not disappointed in the least. I am using the Rolls SX45 active crossover @ around 80hz, with a pair of REL T-Zero MKIII subs. The DAC/Preamp is the PS Audio Stellar Gaincell unit along with a WiiM Pro with the LHY Linear Power Supply. The Crown at idle is dead silent, another plus. And the fans, they have not turned on, if they have, I have not heard them. Though, I do not listen at those levels, so I really do not expect them to ever turn on. The midrange is very meaty, clean and clear, love that, tilts to the warm side. The top end is detailed, but not bright like a Class D. The instrument separation is very good too. Then the soundstage, it is HUGE! Something only a good Class A/B amp can do, the sound is very three dimensional, where a Class D amp comes off as two dimensional, with a much smaller soundstage. Voicing is very good too, Melody Gardot, Willie Nelson, Marty Elkins, in the room. Not really, but darn close. The voicing is very good on this inexpensive amp. The instrument separation is spot on, you can hear the instruments, place them, another plus. The detail is very clean, not bright, not rolled off, very pleasant to the ears. Overall, it is very impressive with the Maggies and continues to sound better the longer it plays. Are there better amps out there? Sure, but where are you going to find a musical Class A/B amplifier that can easily drive a pair of Magnepan speakers for around $550? One that sounds this good with incredibly good detail? This Crown is staying.

Excellent product ! I am new to Crown amplifiers.I wish that I would have known how great these amps are years ago. I also own a pair of XLi 1500s I was so impressed that I upgraded to the XLi 2500 and am going to purchase another to run in bridged mode and a whopping 1500 watts @ 8 ohms! You can not get a better amplifier at anywhere near its price, excellent value, build quality and sound quality are excellent! Highly recommended!
