When you add up everything this pedal offers, tuner, guitar fx, deep vocal fx, a mixer and a looper, you can't come close to replicating all of that with separate pedals, for even twice the price! The audio quality is superb.

If you sing and play acoustic guitar, you need this pedal. I've tried many other pedals, and this beats the competition....hands down! Easy to use and the sound quality of all the effects are recording studio quality. If you play live, you need this!

Musical Background:

Been playing in the Chicago area for years with a touring band opening for major act, Styx, REO, etc.

Musical Style:

Classic rock, country, classic rock......did I say classic rock?

Bought mine over a year ago and love it. It has really helped my playing by being able to loop in a Cajon and guitar rhythm. Playing lead has actually gotten easier.

This pedal is amazingly versatile with a built in two track mixer and looper, and a bunch of really excellent effects for vocals and guitar, or any line input. When I think of what simple BOUTIQUE PEDALS GO FOR, THIS A STEAL!

This is a very cool and useful tool for any solo musician, I only wish it had some compression in it.The harmony portion is a 5 star however in my personal opinion. I would highly recommend this Boss product to any soloist. All though it does not have a compression button it still holds it's own with any other or all solo/acoustic devices.

"Great for Busking "

I've been using the Boss VE8 for about 2 months and it has replaced my TC Helicon Mic Mechanic 2 and TC BodyRez (for busking) and in doing so, I've added a looper and harmonies! Comparing the vocal and guitar FX between the Boss and TC gear...they're different, but neither is necessarily better than the other. (For reference I also have a TCH VoiceLive 2). To my ears, the harmonies on the Boss unit seem to have more of a "live" sound, like when you hear a recording of a live concert on the radio, whereas the TCH gear has a more polished studio vibe to it. Sometimes the TCH VL2 can come off as a little overdone for a solo/duo acoustic show, but is great with the band. When it comes to the Boss guitar "Resonance" feature, it's good. Very good, but I slightly prefer the BodyRez for tone, but the Boss for convenience. (The BodyRez had to be powered by a Volto 2) I bought this primarily because it is battery powered. I'm using the VE8 with a TC Helicon MP70 mic and Line6 G30 wireless system (Powered by a Volto 2), running into a Roland Street Cube EX (also battery powered) for busking, outdoor weddings, parties and camping. It's a great rig! I can carry it all in one trip. However for "stage gigs" I'll still use my TC gear.

"Very dissapointed"

I have had this pedal for less than a year. I have purchased many pedals and acoustic amps from Boss. The guitar channel has completely failed and the vocal is not performing as it did when I first got it probably because the guitar channel is causing a malfunction. Try getting the BOSS/ROLAND support. Impossible! I would not buy this again . I will look for other options. Customer service is the reason I will go elsewhere.
Sound
Initially this product was awesome. The price at 299 should make this pedal last. I know electronics go bad but when that happens the manufacturer should be accessible for repairs. So much for a year's warranty.
Features
When working this is an awesome pedal. Acoustic resonance is fantastic . The vocal enhancer lets your voice sound fatter and broad. the harmonizer is fantastic. None of this matters when the pedal fails.
Ease of Use
Sounds great when working.
Quality
no
Value
this product is not worth the price
Manufacturer Support
I have dealt with this company with no response to getting the pedal repaired. They are not reliable.
The Wow Factor
pedal looks great for a paper weight.

Playing music and performing since 10 years old in church to small venues now

Not a reflection on sounds. There is so much that is not user friendly with this pedal. The looping….It’s a double tap to stop. What? You’re playing live and need a quick cut for a vocal break or whatever and you’ve gotta double tap? Then to undo a bad layer you just.. oh wait. You can’t. You have to delete it all. The harmonizer. Having it in the middle of the pedal leads to MANY misclicks. And just is not user friendly. You can’t do a double voice and a higher voice option. It’s just so far behind the decades old Digitech in that aspect that it’s laughable. Stay away.
