I'm new to Blackstar amps. This is my first, but I've got several other amps, tube and solid state. Ranging from Orange "Brit Darkness", to Randall "Screaming Red White and Blue." I've heard several regular line Club 40 mk2's and was always impressed with their chugga chugga, but kinda found their cleans wanting. That said, this thing has it all. The brighter tubes offer BIG headroom on the clean channels. Especially thru this speaker they selected. While I still find all the beautiful nastiness in the overdrive side. The voicings are really a nice touch. Giving all kinds of range. I can see this amp being equally loved by the Hee Hawers, as well as any players just looking for raw horsepower, and everything in between. Only had it a few days, so I can't really comment on the way it'll handle mileage, but everything seems solid and well built. The three stars on my ratings are just for things that only time will tell. The red tolex is a sweet touch. Almost demands attention on sight. Beautiful amp with lots of tone options. My collection would probably be smaller had I encountered this kinda amp before. No matter what kind of music you're into, I would have to recommend this amp. Especially in it's price range. Everyone always ends these reviews with, "great for metal", or "great for open cleans"... I'll just end it with, "there's tones in this red monster for any and all modern guitarists."The revolution is over and both sides have shook hands." It's God Save the Queen in the Home of the Brave.

I have to say, I had a Blackstar when they first came out and they really kicked it up a notch. The cleans are very impressive, think Fender deluxe Reverb. Both voices remind me of different Fender amps. The overdrive channels is where it really shines. voice one sounds like an old bassman with a Tube Screamer in front of it. Stevie Ray vibes for sure. The high gain voice is amazing. Rich harmonics and well defined lows. You could pull off anything from 80s/90s Ozzy to Lamb of God. I am seriously impressed with this amp. Not to mention the cool red color and chicken head knobs. The 4 watt setting is perfect for playing at home and the 40 watt setting has all the power you would need for gigging. This amp is defiantly worth the money.

I listened to every demo online I could fine. I play Stratocasters and Les Pauls mostly.I recieved this new amp yeaterxday on time as provided in the shipping deal.I can only say that this amp after about 3 hours of non stop jamming with and without a tracks is INCREDIBLE.To qualify I work as a session guitarits/keyboardist and orchestra scoring as well as lead guitarist and keyboardist in Raining Thunder Band.Ive owned amps from Fender Tweeds to Marshall Plexis, Bogners, Plexi Clones, Jet City, Soldano and well you get the picture (tone chasser for weach song or dramatic score). If you play rock, blues, progressive rock, fusion or hybrid music then this ampo in the Studio or Live really sings. From chimmey Fender Cleans to overdrive Marshall Vintage Modern tones to just about the whole spectrum can ber acheived. Yesterday was day1, Today I use the Red tone machin to record sopme guitar parts to tracks. I am pretty sure the Screamin Eagle speaker with light up the tracks. In my Marshall Vintage Modern cabs I am running original old 25watt Celestion Greenbacks, so that where my ears feel happy. I was reluctant to go out of the box since im running Marshall, Fender and Bogners heards into my 2 half stacks, but now the Blackstgar is crewating some compitionin between all my amps, this amp is sweet, sweet and full rance. Very surprised for a 1x12": cabintet.Joy to my ears and im surte it will be to your also. Very versitile amp with the 40watt to 7 watt switch, great back panel which is yet to be explored. I tested this for the 3 hours plus with a few guitars.Fender Stratocaster Standard -single coil texas special pickups. Fender 1107 Custom shop-Sumarium Cobalt pickups with a SD Hotrail in the bridge position.Agile-Les Paul with SD humbuckers, this is an amazing guitar, I love it more than all the Gibsons Ive owned including the 1969 Sunburst Gibson.Fender americal Telecaster H/H, full blown great tone form all 4 guitars I tested so far. Oddly I did not even have to tweet with any tone afeter the opriginal set up with the 1107 Stratocaster.I am really impressed, so now I have a problem, I may have to get another for the stereo live rig.Top shelf Blackstar. Im a new fan.
