"Great board, couldn't ask for ask for more!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Sound
I do live production audio and this board does everything and more, it was everything I needed and wanted it to be and more. I use it daily and it has never caused a single problem. Since we also have a group of about 10 people speaking and another 10 singing, it makes eq's so easy because it will save them. And it sets up itself to the default page, so you can have it start up to you most commonly used configuration. I would recommend this board, its great!

"Amazing mixer, especialy for the money"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I have been delighted with the mixer for 3 years. I see no reason for upgrading it in the near future.
Sound
I work mostly in ambient/electronic 5.1 sound. This mixer sounds great for these type music/soundscapes.
Features
The last major upgrade of the system software allows provision for 5.1 surround mixing. I use it with Sonar 4 Producer and I find rthe 5.1 capabilities of each to be very complimentary. I do most of my sound shaping outside the mixer, and have never tried using its effects. In my application which is to move signals around the studio, this thing can't be beat. 32 bidirectional channels of ADAT can make things incredibly flexible.
Quality
First, I have never heard the clicking reported in another recent review here (perhaps the user should try synching to word clock, since random clicking is what you get when digital interfaces are not correctly synced). Yhe only problem I have ever encountered with mine is that occassionally, the LCD panel dims and the mixer becomes unresponsive. A simple slap to the right side panel corrects the problem every time ;) This leads me to believe that there is a loose connection in the power sypply chain. I recently moved my studio from Ohio to Florida, I was expecting the worst for the miser after being man handled by the moving company. Its been up for about 3 weeks now and I haven't encountered any problem. Also the dim LCD problem hasn't occurred since the move either.
Value
For $599, you've got to be kidding. I bought mine for $1099 with the 2 ADAT interfaces 3 years ago and thought that it was an incredible bargain then.
Manufacturer Support
I have never used it
The Wow Factor
I'm not sure why a mixer shouyld have sex appeal

"Best value for money of anything I've bought in my life, period"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I filled this in purely because I read a particularly negative review of this product. I am a successful recording engineer with nearly 40 yrs on every pro console from Abbey Rd and Decca to SSL and all stops between. For the money, for _any_ money, this little digital console is IMHO jaw-droppingly amazing. That's all. Cheers :)

"Do yourself a favor, climb on this train....."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
this thing is the best mixer out for the money. I use it live, in studio - wherever I need good, accurate sound and can't toss in the bank. I perform a LOT of church installs, and this board is the recommended board for me. It gives maximum flexibility for minimum price. the effects are as good as anything out there for twice the price, and the fact that each channel has four....wow. Add the gates, compressors and automation capabilities....and it is truly a home run. Good job Behringer - I have owned this board since 2002 (when I bought it, the price was still 1400 bucks....:( ). The only thing I wqould change would be a rebate for the money I spent then :)

"Good digital desk!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will start looking for a new desk in about half a year to a year. I wan't 24/96 instead of 24/48. When I bought it, I also concidered a Tascam DM24, but it was too expensive at the time. This desk is better than a Yamaha 01V, due to the fact that it has massive expandability options. 32Channels of adat, no problemo!
Sound
The preamps could use some improving, but other than that, it's clean! EQ's are very good and so are the compressors. Use it with one good mic-pre for your vocal channel and with a sturdy digital multitrack (or computer) and you get Million-dollar-studio quality.
Features
Rack mountable, automation saveable on a PCMCIA flash card (not included though), MIDI, SMPTE, everything, this board is complete.
Quality
It's a sturdy machine. I had one that crackled a little on the main outputs, I had it replaced and have been using it for over a year now. No problems at all. The faders are fast and smooth. The desk feels solid.
Value
For such a machine, this is a true bargain!
Manufacturer Support
Never needed it.
The Wow Factor
If you want digital and it's in your pricerange, this is your desk!

"One of my top all time purchases. I love this thing. I've had it for about two years now. The value is incredible."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Value is incredible. I paid $750 and was jumping for joy. Now it's $599!!! We're talking automated faders, Several quality pre-amps, nice fx, great large, bright, easily readable display, digital outs, aux, built in spdif, optional digital outs for sending up to 32 channels (approx. I can't remember exactly). Nice lay out, no compromises, other than it's not Neve or tube or something. I really prefer it as is, I can always add tube gear to it's transparent circuits if when I want.
Sound
I think it sounds great! Awesome digital convertors. Pre-amps are very clean sounding, a little bit of noise if turned all the way up, but otherwise clean as a whistle. If you buy yourself some really nice $500 + pre-amps you'll notice an improvement, but for the money these are very impressive and very usable pre-amps. I'm thinking of buying the ada-8000's for some more pre-amps and conections. I actually own some better pre-amps and will mainly using the ada-8000 as more of a patchbay so that I can leave everything (synths, mics, pre-amps, Pod, Johnson Station) plugged into a dediated spot instead of having to pull out something to make space. I don't use the effects that much because I prefer to usually add them later with plug-ins, but the effects on the DDX are very good.
Features
Well, it's pretty much got everything you want, I don't find myself needing anything else, it's got it all.
Quality
It's shell is made of plastic but it's an extremely thick plastic that doesn't bend or flex at all. Feels quite solid, not tank solid but maybe pick-up truck solid (hehe). Not a 10 because it's not made of metal, but really very well built for the money.
Value
Wow! I felt I needed to rate this thing for other people. It's selling for $599 right now. I'm just amazed. This truely would have been a $2000 mixer 5 years ago. I prefer it over the more expensive models anyway, 'cuz it's easy to use, sounds good, and has everything I need or want. Value can not be beat!
Manufacturer Support
I've never had to call support.
The Wow Factor
I own it, I love it. Anybody wanting a mixer should really give this a long hard look. New mixer models are coming out every day and will come out in the future, but I feel like I'll have this a long time and won't be looking to sell it on Ebay or anything. It's one area where my gear lust is actually quenched. It's a relief almost. LOL!

"One feature short of the best mixer ever made"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
I've worked with a lot of mixers and digital mixers. This has the best sound, even at low signal levels, of all of them that I have used.
Features
The only thing I think Behringer missed on this thing is that the group busses cannot be sent directly to the main mix. (I think that they think that the busses are only for recording.) You can route the busses to the mains if you can sacrifice input channels in groups of 8 by assigning the bus to the input channel which is what I do.
Value
You CAN'T even buy a 32 input stereo mixer for this price, and to get the gate/compressor on every channel and four effects processors to boot is unreal. (Not to mention the automation and recall!)
The Wow Factor
As soon as my wife lets me buy one I will!

great all over mixer I use it to record in my home studio to get professional results
Sound
this is my first digital mixer, but I own a good anologue board before this, and I don't miss it. This thing sounds outstanding good headroom, Eq is great, compressor is good, effect are really nice. This thing has great bass which was important for hiphop music I do, but it is also very clean at the same time.
Features
there are a lot of good feature, one that stands out is inserts, I use it for tube compressors when I want to warm up some of the instruments, but there are many other feature from automation to saving setups, routing it any way you want to.
Quality
mad pretty well, Haven't had problems

"Be-wahringer. As the other reviews indicate. You could be totally satisfied or you could be bummed out."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If the unit is properly repaired and functions properly going forward, right now that is an "IF". I will keep using it for a few years.
Sound
The Sound quality is fine.
Features
Features are great, once you figure out how to use them. And really that is not too difficult if you have "some" experience mixing already.
Quality
Well...... I did not have any issues the first couple of months. I use it in a Church recordking environment for our live services. I left it on after service one sunday in a tempurature controlled room and when I came back a few days later, many of the mixer LED lights were on, the LCD was unreadable etc... Basically, the unit is dead as of today.
Value
If the units quality were top notch (right now I question that) it is easily a 10. At the moment there is nothing out there with the same features inthe same price range so I give it a 9.
Manufacturer Support
I have contacted support re: my issue(s) and they have sent me the appropriate paper work to get an RMA. I should be getting that today. I am hopeful that they will replace the unit with a new one as I looked on the back and the MFG dat was 11/2001. I purchase dit in July of 2004.. Maybe my supplier had an old stock of them or something.

"Worth every penny!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This unit is part of my home recording studio, which I plan to use for many years to come. I have several other Behringer products and have been very impressed with the features, quality and value of their products, which is why I went ahead with the DDX3216. I'm very happy with my decision. I know other musicians and engineers who have Tascam and Yamaha units that they paid 2 or 3 times as much for, and they have all had problems with theirs. I haven't, and I use my Behringer more.
Sound
Crystal clear sound whether using digital or analog i/o.
Features
What can I say. This unit is loaded with so many features, I doubt I will ever use them all. It's packed. The only reason for a 9 instead of a 10, is because of its size. It's rack mountable, but I can't find a road rack that it will fit into, because of it's length (almost 23 inches). Behringer needs to make a rack for this baby, because no one else seems to want to.
Quality
Cosmetically, it looks great. However, the controls don't have a real solid feel to them. I've had mine for over a year of constant use in my studio, with no problems, but I'm treating it very gingerly. I'm afraid it wouldn't take much abuse, and not likely to survive road use for long.
Value
Hands down the best value in a digital pro mixer. Not even close here. This unit has so much bang for the buck, it blows everyone else away.
Manufacturer Support
N/A. Haven't had any problems yet.
The Wow Factor
I look for value - bang for the buck - and the DDX3216 has it in spades. I wasn't looking for a road mixer (already have a Yamaha Promix01 for that), but this makes a fantastic studio mixer for my home studio.

"Rock-solid and flawless, the Holy Grail of audio devices!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I'm the "3 DAO" guy. Here is a clarification of my experiences with this product. The first time I reviewed this product, I had just cancelled my order after receiving 3 DAO units. I think that I reviewed this thing fairly considering all the hassles I went through at that time. I read all the positive magazine reviews, so I know that at least some people were having good luck with the thing. I wish it had worked out for me. So knowing that the quality of an individual unit is somewhat a matter of luck, I kept in the back of my head that maybe I'd give it a chance again someday. As fate would have it, the company that handles tech support for Behringer made a mistake and sent me a device I did not order. I notified them of this, and returned it to them so they could get it to the correct person. In the course of dealing with this company, I asked a favor from someone in the tech support team, as a "thank you" for the trouble I went through repackaging and shipping the other device: I suggested that I would like to buy a brand-new DDX3216 and ship it to them so that they might go over the thing completely to fix and update the unit, so I might be assured of not getting yet another lemon. The person I talked to actually told me *not* to buy one, because the reliability is very low and in fact they cannot fix them when they break. This person suggested that I buy a Yamaha or something else besides a Behringer. This person is *not* a Behringer employee, but someone who has a lot of experience fixing the stuff. I also learned from a different person at this company that Uli Behringer bought "a town in China" where all the manufacturing has moved to. Maybe my source lied to me! I don't know why he would, but my only goal in passing this information along was to save some other schmuck the same sort of problems I went through myself. I still buy Behringer equipment, but I feel safer with their analog stuff than the digital devices. If *you* want to roll the dice, go ahead, it makes no difference to me. Maybe you'll get lucky. See, I gave it all tens!

"Poor Support, Poor quality"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars

Features
Loads of features "IF THEY ALL WORK PROPERLY". It does lack monitor EQ capability.
Quality
We have owned three boards for 1 1/2 years now and evey one has had to be replaced. We are in the process of replacing 2 more now.
Value
If you want to take a chance and hope you get a good one, go for it. When these boards work corectly they arent to bad. If you think you can aford to take chance on board going bad in the middle of your concert go for it.
Manufacturer Support
I have NEVER had so much problems with any profesional support staff then Behringer. I will NEVER buy another Behringer product for myself or our Church again.
