Sounds exellent especially with a decent pre-amp.

Well worth the price...10 years ago I spent $800 on this mic...I would recommend it to anybody with or without a tight budget.

"Smoothest mic I've ever used"

I have used a bunch of microphones . Some people want extreme clarity . Some people want something that completely hides their voice with air and some effects. I personally like clear it's with a tidbit of air for that nice sweet smoothness. And this mic does exactly that . There is something special that this mic does to your sound . I think it's because of a decreased volume on the 1k . It just removed the harsh and painful sound that a loud voice would give. It's smooth - that's for sure ! I fully recommend this microphone after using all the ones I have in this price range .

I wanted this mic every since I first heard it at a music store in the 90's..just never bought one. It is an all rounder. I have other color mics but this one fairly uncolored. It has no personality. Imo its a refrence mic that eq well. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who is starting out.I do recommend it as addition to a pro mic locker.

Audio-Technica AT4050 Mic Customer Review

Sound
Sounds identical to me to the 414 ULS B. these mics are all for those who can't afford the Neuman U87. I usually cut bit of the upper mids on mixdown, as it has a tendency to increase the 1K area of the source. Other than that, I've found it to be extremely accurate and virtually transparent.

Musical Style:

Modern, funky electric acoustic rock.

Sound
Very crisp. Purchased this after I noticed the studio I go to has it in all the rooms. The engineers love it and the price was just right. I am a VO actor and recommend the AT4050 to anyone in the business. A high end mic at a very reasonable price.
