I love zZounds!! Ordered this set on Thurs at 2pm. 14 hours later I was unpacking it. Free ground shipping, but I'm in New England. I wouldn't expect for the west coast. Been playing for over 50 years and now I'm in an apartment, so I needed to make an adjustment. These are definitely going to take some getting used to. The head response is kind of weird. That will take care of itself when I'm ready for a profession level kit. I HATE the snare location. I normally played it between my legs in right in front of the 1st tom like most drummers. This site to the left and just below the 1st tom. I also have to figure a way to lower the volume on the bass. Much too loud and it's not like I can throw a pillow in there. Even though it's my first set, I don't see how you could get and better bang for your buck. Took one half hour from opening the box to hitting my first shot. BIG WOW!!! I can't wait to see what I'll get when I'm ready to pop for $1K or more.
Sound
So many different sounds available, but so far very realistic. Wish I could choke the ride and crash
Features
It's a basic set so there are basic features. For almost all players this is a first/starter set. Betters sets will have better features.
Ease of Use
within an hour I was playing along with all sorts of different styles.
Quality
I seems to be very well constructed but I wouldn't consider it to be too portable. If your going to move it make sure you fold it up as tightly as you can.
Value
This is an amazing price point for what you get. I haven't seen too many top tier brands offering this much for such an affordable price.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't need Alesis yet but they have a great reputation so I have no worries yet.
The Wow Factor
Well it's my 1st electronic set so I'm just very impressed with the technology. It should not be considered a toy at all. I might even suggest it as a great beginners set before making the move to acoustic. If the newbie doesn't take to drumming at least you're not out $600+.

"Good Start"

This kit has 10 different drum kit sounds, and the sound quality is really quite good! As a drummer who has always used acoustic drums, the inability to position the heads exactly where you want them is a little annoying, especially the snare. Other than that, even the pedals are decent. Another negative is that the bass drum volume is a little to high, and cannot be adjusted. Overall though, the set is a blast to play, and is a great start for beginners and kids.

PROS: for the price of one good guitar pedal, you get a functional drum kit that sounds amazingly good via PA and in phones, the first two sets are the only ones that sound like real drums, has all the outputs and inputs you need, small size, good training and coaching tracks to learn how to drum, lights up in dark and looks cool to kids CONS: bass drum is way too loud in the mix and it can not be turned down individually, can not do rim shots since the rim is actually a plastic light, snare is way way off to the side and it cannot be placed in between your knees (frame will not allow that positioning), made of light plastic and seems like a kids toy for a video game, not sure if it will last beyond 6 months OVERALL: good for really really young kids, like kindergarten and first and second graders maximum, otherwise spend a few more hundred bucks and move up the line. That is what I ended up doing thanks to good customer care a zzounds.

Purchased for my 10 and 7 year old daughters as an introduction into the world of drums. Excellent kit for their needs and experience level. As an entry level kit, it has all the features we need. Hoping this is the beginning of a life long love of music (drumming).

The DM-10 is actually unbelievably high tech, The things it can do are too much to mention but the sounds, reactance time are perfect for the pro to the beginner. I actually had to return mine because I couldn't get used to the change from acoustic to digital but that's because Im an old dog that's set in his ways, If I was 20 years younger I'd be doing all kinds of recording, song writing etc. And for the engineering that went into it the price is right. Its very mobile, easy as pie to tune , build your own custom kit for your type music or choose one of the pre programmed kits. Its the new generations drum-set!. Like I said, Im an acoustic guy but that's me. Buy one if you like digital, you can even choke the crash cymbals, upgrade programs via the Internet right to Alesis Corp.

"quite great triggers for the prize"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Being producer + composer professionally - but not being a drummer - I purchased this for my 4 year old + to my self to be honest:) I have long time wished for some digital drums, certainly being to much of a cheap ass, buying the real pro stuff. If I had had to live with the Alesis drum module I would probably have been less happy. The individual drum levels a really annoying (for my taste) - kick way to loud, snare to low, and no possibility to change that - at least not within the module, as far I can tell. So to start with, I was not so happy to be honest. But having some pro sequence progr. + a pro drum progr. (superior drummer) I was really very much delighted to find, that plugging the usb into my mac starting the programs, resulted in instant great sound and no hassles at all!! (I have read that Maverick OS is another story, for now at least) With a little additional tweaking the levels - I must say it exceeds what I hoped for. Sure, buying a pro set, will most defiantly give a greater dynamic and trigger sensibility - but for the price I can only recommend it - thats with my but's in mind though.

"Not Bad, but Not Really Good"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

pretty much an average electronic drum kit, but its not bad for an entry. I don't believe is to be too common, but mine had a bum leg which caused tilting, the sensor and the light didn't always keep up with simple drum rolls/rudiments. when the happened the sound seemed to drop out as well. I only noticed this with one pad, which was the one which was set to trigger the snare sound. u had to push hard on the power button to turn the module off, so it was nice to have auto off enabled automatically. u can change this, but it will reset to auto off, next time the module is restarted. the drum sticks that came with the kit were not bad, they were about average. I would possibly recommend it to someone that doesn't wanna spend much, and just wants to try out drumming, but id recommend doing some updated research to see if these are continually common issues or if they were fixed and whatnot. when I purchased it, I didn't expect something to be wrapped in diamonds, but I expected things to work correctly.

Musical Background:

a little bit of keyboards, drums, guitar, bass, and more on drum machines.

Horrible sound. Snar drum is very weak. You can actually here the drum sticks hitting the pads over the headphones. Not good at all. Very over priced.
