The Grand Concert body was debuted by Taylor in 1984 to present a subtler sound and feel for acoustic fingerstyle players. With a smaller scale and body size, Grand Concert guitars like the 522 deliver less of the pronounced overtones and dark colors that characterize dreadnought bodies and other bigger guitars.

The Grand Concert 522's smaller 24 7/8-inch scale length feels awesome, and is believed by many to be more comfortable to play when you're sitting down. The neck width, however, is slightly wider than some of Taylor's other guitars, making more room for your fingers to wrap around complex chords and fingerings. All this makes it a great instrument to bring onto the stage with you.
