A Slightly More Understated Shape and Sound
The Grand Concert body was debuted by Taylor in 1984 to present a subtler sound and feel for acoustic fingerstyle players. With a smaller scale and body size, Grand Concert guitars like the 522 deliver less of the pronounced overtones and dark colors that characterize dreadnought bodies and other bigger guitars.A Delight To Play
The Grand Concert 522's smaller 24 7/8-inch scale length feels awesome, and is believed by many to be more comfortable to play when you're sitting down. The neck width, however, is slightly wider than some of Taylor's other guitars, making more room for your fingers to wrap around complex chords and fingerings. All this makes it a great instrument to bring onto the stage with you. But don't think it won't shine in the studio -- under the mic, the Taylor 522 will transmit all of its subtlety perfectly into the mix with other instruments.X-Braced For Perfectly Balanced Sound
Like the rest of Taylor's steel-string guitars, the 522 benefits from Taylor's proprietary X-bracing design. This design balances the reinforcement of the guitar from the upper… read more bout to the lower bout, and provides consistent rigidity around the soundhole -- perhaps the most challenging aspect of acoustic guitar building. The bracing on the 522 is Taylor's Standard II design, which shifts the X closer to the soundhole, and incorporates a relief rout that allows more of the top to vibrate -- yielding a richer and deeper tone.Handsome, Too
The Taylor 522's all-mahogany body results in an exceptionally attractive instrument. Its distinctive appointments include a black pickguard, ivoroid binding and rosette, and an ivoroid Century fretboard inlay. The chrome tuning pegs are Taylor-made, ensuring excellent intonation hold and efficient tune-ups.Features:

"Great guitar - strange set up"

The guitar looks and sounds amazing, like most of the Taylors I own. It came set up a little high for my taste, which was an easy fix, because it was just a neck-bow. The way the saddle is made/set has the high e string seated MUCH lower than the other 5... so getting consistent action is going to be a bit of a pain.
