Takamine G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar

Don't mistake the small body of this acoustic for a small tone. It features an old-time design made to produce a classic, full-bodied sound.

The Takamine G406S New Yorker acoustic guitar is an affordable, beautiful guitar with a parlor body, but huge tone. Perfect for songwriting, the New Yorker features a solid spruce top, rosewood fingerboard and sides, gold tuners and a 3 piece back made of rosewood and quilted maple.

The New Yorker is the smallest profile Takamine, and a traditional old-time guitar shape that produces an immediate, clear, full-bodied tone that evokes the old 78 rpm records of the 1940's. The strumming voice is sharp and airy, and when played finger-style, the New Yorker sings with a sweetness and character that makes the player want to dig a little deeper into the roots of American music.

My stable includes Guild, Martin, Stagg, Alvarez, Kramer, another Takamine, etc., but I expect this one is a permanent addition. If you're looking for a mid-range purchase that's playable beyond it's cost, buy this guitar. If aliens with keen musical taste abducted it, I would definitely replace it and store it in a lead-lined locker thereafter.
Sound
Tone and projection are outstanding for the size of the G406S, even with the factory strings. Good bass and highs, both. Suitable for solo or group play.
Features
I bought the instrument, and that's what I got - a guitar. No bag or accessaries. But for the selling price of $349, I have no complaints.
Ease of Use
It's instantly playable and very pleasureable, at that. Blues, folk, jazz - everything comes easy and natural.
Quality
I originally was looking for something in addition to my mini Martin for travel purposes, so cosmetics were not much of a consideration. Still, it's an attractive guitar - the integrated back is beautiful.
Value
A bargain, even at retail, though I got a great deal, I think, below advertised pricing.

The Wow Factor
Hey, it's a guitar, my tenth in the corral. Sexy? My wife says Roy Orbison wasn't sexy, but look at the sound the man produced. The 406 is like that...
