Boss GT-1 Multi-Effects Processor

A Warehouse of Amps & Effects, To Go

When Boss releases a pedal, guitarists listen. As a founding figure in stompbox design and one of the first manufacturers to explore multi-effects, Boss has a proven track record in this field.

The GT-1 multi-effects processor adds to the Boss legacy by providing guitarists of all stripes a platform to create new sounds. The unit itself is well-laid out and easy to understand, and provides a wealth of options for those looking to really carve a tone of their own.

Lots of Tech Under the Hood

Boss GT-1 Multi-Effects Processor
The GT-1 features 108 effects running at a sample rate of 44.1 kHz with 24-bit conversion for pristine clarity. In other words, gone are the days of weak-sounding models! Instead, the GT-1 is powered by two of Boss's proprietary technologies.

The first is MDP, or multi-dimensional processing. This innovation splits a guitar signal into several "dimensions" based on frequency and dynamics. From there, effects can adapt to what you are playing, so an overdrive sounds just as sweet when you're ripping up the neck as it does when you're playing power chords, all without adjusting any knobs!

The second is COSM, or Composite Object Sound Modeling. Pioneered by Boss in 1995 and tirelessly enhanced ever since, this technology models amplifiers with incredible detail. COSM takes into account each amp's unique electronic circuitry, magnetic components like speakers and transformers, and its physical construction. The result is a tone with accuracy like none other.

Design Your Signature Sound

Once you dive into editing your FX chains, and creating and saving your own custom tone presets, you can switch between them easily via the up and down switches on the left-hand side of the Boss GT-1. You can program tones for your entire set list on the GT-1, and always have the right sounds ready. If you need more tonal variety, connect your GT-1 to a computer and download a new patch via Boss' Tone Central.

Love to improvise with effects? You've got an assignable control (CTL1) switch and expression pedal to play with. Use the control switch to dial in tap tempo, turn effects on or off and more. The expression pedal can be used as a wah, for volume control, or to control various parameters on your effects, like the rate of your chorus.

Ready for the Road

Like to pack light for your gigs? The GT-1 is small enough to fit in your guitar gig bag, even with its built-in treasure trove of virtual amps and effects. If that weren't convenient enough, it's even battery powered -- load in 4 AA batteries and you've got 7 hours of power!

The GT-1 is an excellent stage companion, and it also shines in between gigs: an 1/8" headphone jack lets you plug in and practice silently at night. And if you come up with an awesome song idea during practice, simply hook up the GT-1 to your computer via USB and record!
