The TC Electronic G-System offers 1st class effects and major processing power. Boasting 9 simultaneous effects and 4 FX loops, the G-System is a winner.

The TC Electronic G-System offers the foremost in multi-effects design. Founded by Danish brothers in 1976, TC Electronics specializes in audio interfaces, computer hardware, audio software, studio processors, rack effects, and most importantly, pedal-based guitar and vocal effects. The G-System is their flagship, a tank-like Megalodon that brings the best of what multi-effects processing has to offer the modern guitarist.

TC Electronic G-System: Options A'Plenty

Thanks to the inclusion of two independent DSP sections, the TC G-System is capable of running up to nine of the twenty five onboard effects simultaneously. No matter how much you try, you can't find a need for any more than that. Prefer the rack/MIDI control side of being a guitarist? TC thought of that too, allowing you to unhinge the "brain" unit from the G-System (known as the GFX01), rack it up in a standard 19" box, and still retain control via the remaining floorboard. Plus, the floor unit has MIDI connections for controlling any of your other favorite MIDI gear. Do the G-System's 18 knobs leave you wanting more? Connect up to four external expression pedals for added control over virtually any effect or parameter. Since you're going to be using this with an amplifier, TC Electronic even went so far as to make the G-System smart enough to control and switch your favorite amplifier, allowing you to leave your amp's footswitch at home. And with the USB connection, you'll be able to stay on top of your firmware read more updates for years to come, all free from TC. And since the TC G-System is all about the little things, there's one more thing worth mentioning--unlike most others, this TC piece has extremely fast, silent program changes, that even allow for controllable delay spillovers!

TC Electronic G-System: Total Integration for Tonal Integration

While certainly capable of replacing the majority or entirety of your pedalboard, that is not the aim of this TC unit: the G-System was built with the common needs and functions at the heart of being a guitarist in mind. TC recognizes that of all of the different kinds of pedals they use, distortion, overdrive, and fuzz are a subjective matter of personal taste, which is why they decided to leave them out of the G-System completely. By the same token, the TC Electronic G-System incorporates another brilliant feature--the ability to route up to four of your favorite effects pedals or units via four switchable, mono, analog loops, allowing placement wherever you choose in your signal chain. Having the option to put your other pedals within your chain wasn't good enough for TC--they went above and beyond, allowing you to control those effects with four of the G-System's eighteen oversized, knurled metal knobs. Do you have a preamp you favor? TC thought of that too, offering an additional insert point, ready to accept your favorite external pre. Oh, and those pedals mentioned earlier, the ones you patched in yourself? No need to bring out an extra power strip, because the TC Electronic G-System has an array of four 9V DC outlets, ready to supply juice to your favorite stompboxes. Continuing the design aesthetic of total control, the G-System allows you to reroute and change up the footswitch layout to whatever your guitar-playing heart desires.

It has been what I expected and more

Sound
The sounds are clean and true to the tone of the guitars. It needs to matched up high quality amplification to experience the full effect of the quality processing.

Features
This is where there really isn't anything out there in its class Without having to get into a Bradshaw/Skydstrup type set-up, you can implement midi change messages to control your synth or presets on a Line 6 Module, or any midi device. You can loop your favourite effects through the send /return loops, set - up the board any way you want to. Most all of the floor buttons can be programmed to control whatever you choose to control. The amp switching is great. I use a Boogie Roadster with four amp channels and they are all switchable through the unit. Through the preamp send return you are able to set up a wet/dry/wet amp setup similar to the bradshaw/lukather amp configutation. Most of these optins are programmable to each pre-set.

Ease of Use
Once you get the hang of the set up functions its not that bad. You have to expect some grief with all of the flexibilty that you have. You really have to sit down and think about how you want to set up your gear.

Quality
Tank Build and reliability.

Value
If you have some midi equip, pedals that you like to use, amp switching, diverse amp set-ups, and all kinds read more of on-board processingYou can't beat it. Limitation is that ,although it does just about anything you want to it is limited as a

Manufacturer Support
I have called on some specific programming issues, not repairs just questions on how to do certain things. Most were dealt with within 48 hours.

The Wow Factor
It's a desireable product if you have equipment to utilize it's options in terms of routing. The effects are excellent.
