I swapped out the factory pups on my MIJ Fender P/J and while the tone only shows subtle improvement in the mids, I will say the balance and power output is better. The middle setting on my bass, which is an equal balance of the P and J, is less thin and has a bit more cajones now. Also, these are VERY QUIET, no-buzz pups, which is nice. Overall, there is an improvement, but don't expect a world of difference. The subtleties are noticeable and welcome, and worth it in the end.
