Ibanez is proud to introduce their first upright bass, the Bass Workshop UB804 Upright Bass. This design (34" scale length) allows for a smooth transition from bass guitar to this particular upright. Its conical compound fingerboard radius perfectly facilitates smooth bowing and fast plucking. The compact Maple body was designed to balance form and function, resulting in a bass that provides outstanding visuals and incredible playability. Despite its compact body, the UB804 does not sacrifice acoustic tone, projecting a robust natural sound. The smaller body also allows for quick and easy transport.

The AeroSilk Piezo system is a Piezo system exclusive to Ibanez that enhances the acoustic "upright" quality of the sound. We calibrated this system to provide optimal performance on our upright bass. Whether bowing or plucking, this specially modified piezo system detects the unique vibrations of each individual string and then equalizes the output level. Unlike traditional full size uprights, players don't have to adjust the electronics according to different playing styles. It enables players to switch their playing styles quickly and easily, which widens performance possibilities. Its simplified control layout has 1 volume and 1 tone control. The tone control offers a wide range of possible sounds so the UB804 can be used for any style of music.

The UB804 comes with a TAMA Roadpro hardware stand. TAMA's engineering designed the stand to securely hold the bass whilst delivering read more superior stability and durability. The subdued black color of the stand matches the mature nature of the UB804. The UB804 also comes with a padded gig bag that will carry everything: the bass itself, stand (included), and a bow (not included). read less

This was a hate buy. I've always hated Ibanez basses because the necks have been awful. I own many different basses in the different brands. Ibanez is not reliable, it seems like they always need a neck adjustment. Anyway, this bass is actually fantastic. It's set up nice out of the box and the sound is beautiful. Of course you can never really emulate a true acoustic upright but it does well.I'm surprised by the craftsmanship on it. There's no blemishes, it's got a nice finish to it. Really beautiful to look at and listen to, which is a first for me because Ibanez has always sounded 'tinny' to me. In comparison it does well against NS Design, obviously I still love my NS basses however this is a good choice if you're looking to save a few hundred.I keep it in a controlled temp/humidity room because I now live in Nevada (it's terribly dry here), so I'm not sure how it would handle in an uncontrolled temp & humidity space. Honestly, because it's an Ibanez I don't think I'd trust it outside of that room... Never played this one on stage as I got it right when COVID hit.The stand is good even though I'm not a fan of Tama. Always had trouble with their snares and other hardware growing up. Everything seems solid considering the brands used.I'd recommend this one. But will always be leary about reliability. Ask any store who sells Ibanez and they can show you the stack of take backs because of poor craftsmanship... And then ask them about the other brands, if they're honest about read more it they'll tell you they have more Ibanez they have to return or deduct price on from craftsmanship than any of the other brands combined and second to that is Peavey. It's pretty sad. This one is a good one.
