Instant Power Amp Re-Voicing

In a tube-based guitar amplifier, the preamp is important for basic tone shaping, but it's the power amp design that really defines the overall sonic signature and playing feel. Most amps use a specific output tube type, while a rare few allow you to swap out different power tubes. Unfortunately, this process usually requires physical tube replacement and bench time with a tech, making it expensive and inconvenient. For the most part, you really needed to buy multiple amps to access the unique tonal characteristics of different output tube sections -- until now.

Nextone changes all this with the ability to instantly re-voice its analog Class AB power amp section with one of the four classic designs. American sounds are represented with 6V6 and 6L6 output tube types, while British sounds are represented with EL84 and EL34 types. Unlike modeling amps, which simply feed pre-cooked amp models

I have been a tube amp player since 1964 and I've been playing Fender, Marshall, Matchless, Soldano, DR.Z , Carr just mention a few. I have never been a solid state amplifier fan. They just don't have the same feel , articulations and dynamics as a tube amp. Then along comes this Boss Nextone Stage amplifier. Just for the heck of it I thought I'd give it a try with all the new modern age technology what did I have to lose? This amp even though it's the lower powered one has all the volume you could want. It has an amazing ability to come so close to the same articulations, dynamics and feel of a real tube ampthat it amazed even me. Top panel controls are just like any tube amp with the exception of the ability to change the power amp sound and feel by being able to emulate 6V6 6L6 EIL84 and EL34 tube response. As well as the power stage output from 40 to 20 to .5 watts. While the changes in power amp emulation are not real drastic but you can hear and feel a difference from one to the other. The Boss labeled 12" speaker responds very well at every volume. The dirty channel sounds just like an over driven tube amp.Much lighter in weight than a 40 watt tube amp it makes a very good grab n go tool. Being a much older player I don't know a whole lot about programming but I see that there's a possibility to change a lot of things internally in the way the amp sounds, in the way it responds, if you know how to do that with a computer. Every player has to make up his or her own mind read more but this one certainly changed mine
