427 Drum and Percussion voices
Inside the box, there is a great selection of high-quality voices that you can use to build 20 custom kits for when you want to think "outside the box". There are lots of acoustic drums to choose from, as well as percussion instruments from around the world. You will also find some killer special effects voices that take away any limits on your creativity.

22 keyboard voices
The DXPRESS IV module has 22 keyboard voices that you can trigger from the pads. This allows you to trigger melodic patterns or program melodic loops into the on-board sequencer that you can use as part of your live performance.

Great feeling pads
The pads on the DXPRESS IV Special have natural rebound and great dynamic response so you will be able to get read more express all of your musical ideas. The special kit has a 3 zone snare with pad controller that lets you make snare tension adjustments, change the pitch, or alter the tempo of a sequence that you are playing to. There are 3 toms, a 3-zone crash, a mono crash, and a 3-zone ride. The cymbal pads are round, and have a natural swing and rebound for realistic feel. The hi hat pad mounts to a real hi hat stand (that's included with the kit), and responds much like an acoustic hi hat. The kick tower feels very much like an acoustic kick, and will accept a double pedal. When you want to expand, you can split the tom and kick inputs to add more pads.

On-board sequencer
The DXPRESS IV has a built in sequencer that allows you to record your performance in real time. There are 44 prerecorded full-length songs and 19 pad songs to play along with, and 20 user songs that you can use to record your own loops, songs or patterns. You can mute the drum part so that you can play without a drum track, or you can also mute the rhythm track to play along with only a bass line. You can assign any of these songs to any pad in the kit, and then start or stop the song by hitting the pad. To give you even more musical choices, you can plug your CD or MP3 player into the AUX IN of the module and play along with your favorite music.

Programmable click
The module has a programmable metronome that can play subdivisions of quarter, eighth, sixteenth, or triplets. You can control the volume of each subdivision to give the patterns a different feel. The metronome has 30 user patterns that you can save so you can recall patterns that you use frequently for teaching or practice. The click also has a feature we call Rhythm Gate that will mute the drum voices if you are out of time with the click.

I will own this kit for some time- Heck I still have my Simmon's SD-S9 and pads!!!!! Eventually I will pony up the dough for the Roland kit, but I will keep the Yamaha anyways...

Sound
Just getting back to playing after an extended hiatus, Sounds are very good... much better than when I was playing gigs 4 nights a week back in the 80's and 90's. Also i own an original Simmon's kit from 1982 and the Simmons pads work with the Yamaha unit flawlessly. Although who needs them when Yamaha's pads feel so much better and respond MUCH better. The hi-hats are very realistic in sound and appearance. as are all the cymbal sounds. This kit is great right out of the box.

Features
The hardware is very good, Hi-hat stand is good quality. The rack is very durable. It's definitely not cheap-quality.

Ease of Use
This product is again- great out of the box , I have 20 plus years of playing behind me . And I know good equipment when I see it, Hear it , and play it. That is why I own this kit!

Quality
I have not gigged with this kit yet, although I see no reason not to... I have played it for about a Month now and can see no real wear , My kids have also played it without any ill effects.

Value
I believe the price charged is way too cheap for this drumset. Honestly I don't know how Z-sounds can sell equipment this cheaply... I also have to say read more to Parents if you are looking to buy this set- Don't hesitate it's worth the money!!! I bought this set mainly because of the price- I wanted Rolands but who has that kind of money?? And the Yamaha's deliver great sound at a realistic price!

Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with Yamaha, so I really can't say.

The Wow Factor
Color choice would be nice- Gray is boring, but hey for the price who cares!
