"Great Formula"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Well, Back in the 70's and 80's I had a set of Zildjian A's that I eventually sold in the 1990. Getting back on the drums in 2022 I was looking for the sound of the zildjians I had back then. Tried the i's, the S's the A customs. They were not the same. I called Zildjian. I told the product specialist, I am looking for the sound of your cymbals that were used in the 70's and 80's. He said, Ah, you want the A391 pack. That is the original formula which has actually been used by bands from as early as the 60's all the way into the 80's. I ordered them from zZounds and WOW, they are just perfect. Cannot use these for metal. But for contemporary rock, they sound unbelievable.

"Zildjian 391 box set Extraodinare"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

These are an excellent 1st set of cymbals, a excellent 2nd set, excellent 3rd set cymbals! You can take the 391 Box set and Funk up, Metal down,Country 'round and most definitely you can take the Zildjian 391 Box set the the R&B Soul platform like a glove on hand. Please! If this were the only set of cymbals from the Master, they'd be on your kit!

"Great cymbal pkg for intermediate players"

I'm not particularly fateful to any cymbal brands as long as they sound great and has a great reputation, I would definitely buy it. I've owned from Sabian AAX explosion to Paiste Rudes. Purchasing Zildjian A cymbals, I already know what to expect. Its not as bright as Rudes but I'm a heavy hitter so it balances it out. I actually only wanted to sweet ride and the 18 inch crash in this pkg and decided to sell the 16in and the hihats. Overall, for the price of the pkg its definitely worth it.

"Low quality manufacturing and not the best sounding"

Zildjian has seemed to not take much pride in making this series of cymbals. They do not sound like the older A Zildjian. However, if you're looking for a mid range set of cymbals at a good price they are worth checking out. Don't expect perfection and amazing sounds for just under seven hundred dollars though. They have lots of inconsistencies in the lathing and the labels are poorly stamped. I wish I could have returned these and went with the Sabian HHX set.
