I typically don't write reviews, but I was a bit shocked to see the that this keyboard had only a 2 1/2 star out of five star rating here on zZounds. Let me tell you, the Yamaha CP is an outstanding keyboard. So much so that I own the Yamaha YC as well. (Its organ counterpart) The only other review states dissatisfaction with the small keys. Well, yes, it doesn't have full-size keys, it isn't marketed as such. While I (and most others) prefer full-size keys, I am very impressed by the wonderful response of the keys. I enjoy them, and the small size factor allows you to reach more keys with ease. I have big hands/fingers, and I still maneuver over this keyboard with ease. Secondly, yes, it has "internal speakers," but I look at it as an added bonus. They aren't high in volume, but truthfully this is a keyboard that most musicians will be running through an amp or PA. (Or even headphones for home practice) It isn't a toy, so I don't think Yamaha is banking on the micro onboard speakers being a main selling point. Beyond this, it is built very well, I have received many compliments on its retro appearance, and friends and strangers alike are blown away by the quality of the sounds this keyboard produces. I once owned a Nord Electro 2, and while that was a phenomenal keyboard, I must say I love the portability of the reface series! Sounds are excellent, great effects onboard, good keys, sturdy construction. If you are on the fence about this, but are looking for a quality solution to obtaining an electric piano, this is your answer! Prior to this and the Yamaha YC, I was stuck using vsts through a midi controller and laptop setup. It feels great to be back to a straightforward set-up like this! Hope this helps!

I rarely write reviews but this product was so bad I felt obligated. I bought with hopes of having a portable EP that could double as a midi controller when needed. After playing it for 5 minutes out of the box, I was done with the tiny keys. Please be aware that the sound from the onboard speaker is barely audible. The only plus I can see for this item is that the rhodes sounds are pretty good. This should be $149 max. If you need to spend $500 for a yamaha, do yourself a favor and buy the MX49. zZounds- A+, Yamaha Reface - D
