About a month ago I bought some Mackie DLM12s to replace my aging Peavey and Fender speakers. I have used a PV board for along time and loved it, dependable and great sound. It blewout one night and I had to switch to my Helix board. I bought the Yamaha MG12XU to replace my peavey and I have been very impressed with its sound quality and the onboard compressors of which my PV did not have. zZounds was great and I took advantage of the payment plan since I spent my tax return on the speakers. The board fills my needs and my singers( I do karaoke) love it. I have had more compliments on my new system, and trust me, my old system is still great, just didn't want to lug around 4 speakers, a box with two amps, board, dbx, equalizers, dual cdg player and all the processors and recievers for the mics. With my new Mackies and the MG12XU, I don't need any of those things to improve sound. Thank you zZounds and to Mackie, Yamaha and Shure, my life is easier, from 400 lbs to well below a 100. TY again.

"Good mixer but no insert points"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have bought Yamaha MG mixers for around 15 years. They're a good value. I bought this model also, late 2016. I was disappointed to find it had no insert points. I should have researched it better. I just assumed it was like my MG16/6FX. I have purchased outboard compressors and FX boxes. Without insert points, I'm not able to use them without re-routing everything. On the plus side - the audio interface is a very nice addition. And it's built like a rock - even if it's more plasticky than earlier MG series mixers. Mine has fallen twice. No problems.

Musical Background:

Keys, guitars, inter alia.

Musical Style:

Lounge, exotica, acoustic.
