"Keyboard Sustain Pedal is Great!"

I play keyboards weekly (very weakly--bada-bam!) at our church and finally wore out the sustain pedal for my Alesis 8 piano. While I can't exactly get excited over a sustain pedal and give it 5 stars for the features listed below, I can say that the Yamaha FC3 pedal that I bought at Zzounds works very well. I don't think there's anything that Yamaha doesn't make well, and Zzounds is my favorite online music store, where I've bought several big-ticket and small items over the past ten years.

Musical Background:

I play most instruments, especially guitar, bass, piano, organ, drums, and harmonica

Musical Style:

rock, jazz, brasilian jazz

"Great variable sustain for your Yamaha piano"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This pedal was bought as a replacement for the original that came with the P90 piano. The first pedal finally wore out after 2 years of home use and 4 years thereafter of gigging most every weekend, indoors and outdoors. Obviously, if your Yamaha piano supports this type of pedal, there's no reason to use anything else, as the difference in price is negligible, considering the added control this pedal enables. I have no idea if other makes of pianos are compatible with this type of sustain/damping system.
Features
Capable of variable sustain/damping effect, due to a variable-resistance pot in the pedal mechanism, not a two-stage spring-contact system. In other words, as the pedal is depressed, a "damped" sustain is produced first, with the damping effect lessening as the pedal is depressed further, to an open ringing sustain when the pedal is fully depressed.
The Wow Factor
Let's face it, a sustain pedal doesn't have much of a "wow" factor - it just works well or it doesn't. This one does.

It's a great keyboard. The 88 weighted action feels better then the other makes. The Nord Piano 88 also has a stellar action.Sound quality is great and the patches in the Yamaha's possess a great deal of detail and fidelity. I highly recommend Yamahas as a primary keyboard because of the patches and action in keyboard.I've had a rack mount Motif (along with the Triton and a number of Roland modules) for 10 yrs, so I'm very familiar with Yamaha's palette of sounds. And it has all of the standard Workstation features-effects, percussions , sequencer, multiple voices etc. It's a big beast of a keyboard. Not ideal for carrying to gigs, unless you're a Pro with a carting service at your disposal.

Musical Background:

Any style, grew up with jazz-fusion and Rock, R&B and Funk.

I purchased this pedal for my boyfriend Steve a keyboard player and he loves it!! He said its so much better than the regular sustain switch he used. He liked the weighted base that doesn't slide around on stage, the real sustain pedal feel and with the half-pedal feature, compatible with the new NP-31 digital piano he just got he said its like having 2-pedals for the price of one. Again he just loves it. Very pleased with the fast service I recieved.

Musical Background:

I've been playing for 35 years. My main instrument is keyboards(piano mostly) but I have picked up bass and drums, some guitar.

Musical Style:

I play classic rock,classic/new country,some blues.
