Yamaha EZ-200 Keyboard Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I expect to be happy with it as long as I have it. I bought it because the price was right and I should meet my goals someday. I would replace it with another just like it. The keyboard has met my expectations and then some. I haven't found anything that I don't like about it.
Sound
I have never owned or played a keyboard before, but I have always wanted one. I'm 77 yyears old and I am having the time of my life with my keyboard. I t may take me longer , but I am going to learn to play.
Features
Yes, I got the headphones and stand. I wish I had an easier way of playing without the lights. I love that feature, but it would be nice if there was a song book with numbers or letters and a layover feature so I could pretend I could read the music. I don't remember much from my music classes in school!
Ease of Use
So far I love all the combinations I'v tried.
Quality
Mine was listed as blemished, but it looks brand new to me. I absolutely love it. I feel very impowered. I think it will last a long time!
Value
I think it is a great deal
Manufacturer Support
I have not had any problems sofar. I'm sure if I do I will be very satisfied.
The Wow Factor
I just love aeverything about it!

"Good price, No output lines at all, can't play it with a band or through external speakers, very basic keyboard, not fully intui"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Since I'm using it to learn with, I would have to wait a long time before I upgrade to a better sound and feel.
Sound
The price is good. The keyboard is very low level basic with no option for connecting it to monitors or speakers, it doesn't have any output lines of any kind other than a headphones 1/8" output and a MIDI port. So don't expect to use it to play with any bands or with other people. The sound is very basic as reflected by the price. I think the yamaha description blows it out of proportion. It is not intuitive at all, I don't know how the CASIO compares to it, but this one would require going through a lot of pages of instructions just to get it going, not intuitive at all. the lights feature is very nice, but I wish it wasn't the default. You have to turn them off every time you turn the keyboard on, no way to save your settings.
Features
The price was good and came with the headphones and stand. So, I'm happy with it in general based on what I paid for it. I wish it had RCA or 1/4" output lines but it doesn't, all it has is a headphones output and MIDI. So you would need some type of adapter patch up work if you want to play it through monitors. It's not a keyboard you can take out and play with a band. It doesn't have a gradual volume knob, instead, it is a digital volume button, so it's even too loud or not loud enough and no in-between setting The lighted keys are nice but are the default, if you want them off you have to turn them off every time you play the keyboard, no way to save your settings
Ease of Use
The system is not very intuitive, it requires opening the manual and going through pages and pages to just operate the basic lessons and so on. So, I wouldn't call it intuitive at all.
Quality
This is a basic keyboard to learn on, it is not designed to ever live the house. It looks nice for what you pay, but it is not a keyboard to take on the road or even out of the house. It came in good conditions, so it meets my expectations.
Value
I would like to see the CASIO version of the lighted keyboard to see how they compare, but in general, I think it is a reasonable value
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to contact anyone yet.
The Wow Factor
I don't think the dimension of the keys are accurate, they seem thinner than the standard, other than that, the keyboard looks good from an initial visual look. I wish there was a way to turn the lighted keys off and save it as the default. Also, I wish it has a back light on the main LCD screen

"Yamaha EZ-200 Lighted keyboard"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

I bought this keyboard for my two daughters, ages 3 and 6, hoping the lighted keyboard with the lessons feature would help them self-teach some piano skills as we can't really afford one-on one lessons at the moment, and I couldn't bring myself to buy them ANOTHER video game or Hannah Montana movie. So far they have loved it. The built in songs alone give them hours of entertainment, singing along, playing along (sort of) and dancing. The open-box price from Zzounds with the stand and headphones was less than the keyboard alone from other retailers, it was a great deal. I was looking for the lighted keys feature and touch sensitivity for a decent price, this keyboard hit the spot. .The speakers have surprising volume and clarity for such a small and economical unit, the controls are easy to use, and it sure beats moving and paying for a full size piano , especially considering that this is a bit of a test to see if my girls really have a lasting interest in piano. I am very pleased with the price and function of this keyboard and Zzounds.c.om

Sound
The sound quality is great, sounds like a 500 dollar keyboard. Doesn't sound like a 2,000 dollar keyboard, but you mostly get what you pay for.
Features
A usb midi to computer cord would be nice.. but it still does it's general job and has plenty of voices.
Ease of Use
One button.
Quality
The stand isn't completely stable but the keyboard is great quality.
Value
A deal and a half.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't used it.

Super fast processing and shipping- got the keyboard next day! This is my first keyboard so I'm really just getting into it. I wanted something that was easy to use and that had the possibility to teach me too. I got the blemished one and to me it looks perfect. I was a little concerned about it and how it would look but it looks great. They keyboard is super easy to use and I love the grand panio button. The lighted key feature, how it teaches you a song, is good. But I'd rather just get some sheet music and do it on my own. The keyboard is great, I would buy again! Thank you

EZ200 keyboard from yamaha usually costs $150+ new. I bought it used and can't really tell a difference. The shipping was ultra fast too. It was delivered in something like 3 days. Overall I'm really impressed with this company. THank you zZounds.

for some reason I though the keyboard would automatically come with an ac adapter so that it could be plugged into the wall versus using only batteries, it didn't, and no stand. my niece cannot afford to buy either of those separately, so there she sits. but appreciated the prompt and free delivery.

"Great keyboard for the beginning or casual player."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I'm a beginning keyboard player of long standing :) and I was looking for an affordable keyboard for practice. The EZ-200 fits my requirements very well. But I've not used the lighted keyboard feature and if I had to do it over I might spend a bit more money for the Yamaha PSRE413. Eventually I'll want to trade up; but the next think I think I'll do is to try the EZ-200's MIDI interface with a software synth. There's a good demo on the EZ-200 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXWDV-xSlK0. I want to complement zZounds on their quick fulfillment of my order. I selected standard shipping but the keyboard was delivered to my home THE NEXT DAY!
Sound
For an inexpensive keyboard the sound of the EZ-200 is very good. The Portable Grand Piano is realistic, as are the woodwinds and brass. The strings and guitar voices are a bit less so. The first 100 or so voices are well organized, but the remaining XGlite voices are arranged pretty much at random. There seems to be a fair amount of duplication among the voices. I've only used the Styles accompaniment once. Frankly some of the styles seem a bit cheesy to me.
Features
The features are well thought out and easy to use. A couple of minor gripes: I would have liked to have a knob instead of buttons for the volume and a back as well as forward button to cycle through the features. I've only used the lighted keys and the built-in songs once - in fact I usually turn the lights off and wish that was the default. I found the display with the notes played useful, especially on parts of the staff that I'm not very familiar. I thought the Chord Dictionary would have been useful, but the mapping of keys to chord characteristics was more complicated than it was wortth -- the User Guide has a chord chart that is more useful. As far as accessories: you definitely need the AC adaptor. I initially thought it odd that accessory packages included headphones -- doesn't everyone already have those? But the keyboard has a full size jack instead of the common minijack, so if you have minijack headphones you'll need an adaptor. I haven't gotten a stand yet.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use.
Quality
In the month I've owned it I've had no problems at all.
Value
A great value for beginning players.
Manufacturer Support
I've not had a need for support.
