This is a great little guitar that I hope would spur a guitar interest in my 7 year old. It failed in that regard, but ONLY in that regard. The tone is great, the action great, stays in tune - I find myself picking it up all the time around the house. Now it's actually got me interested in higher end parlor guitars because the short scale is so much fun. Best guitar for the money I've ever purchased, no question.

Musical Background:

On and off garage bands - played guitar, mandolin for 40+ years

Musical Style:

bluegrass, blues

It's just beyond amazing the quality of Yamaha's guitars and OTHERS... for the, literally, small price we have to pay.. These guitars FAR surpass the old hundred dollar guitars .. that at the time were above average.. the equipment and stock they now have far exceeds any qualities of the past..

Musical Background:

65 active years.. guitar, ukulele, keyboard

Musical Style:

Figer Picking Folk Music.. Some easy country western.. Opera.

My 5 year old daughter just started learning to play guitar. Her teacher recommended the Yamaha 3/4-size for her. It has a nice sound, good quality, and the price is right.

31 days in and the G String began buzzing like a beehive... Replaced the string.. still buzzed... badly ... adjusted the neck... made NO difference... this is just so discouraging .. at age 76 and on extremely limited income.. I am at a loss... I hate to give up playing the guitar .. but as said at a complete loss. No, I don't recommend buying this guitar.. it's a heartbreaker.

Musical Background:

65 active years.. guitar some past keyboard.

Musical Style:

finger picking folk
