This amp is definitely a hit! When I first saw the picture of the amp, I mistook it for a Vox Valvetronix amp, but don't let it fool you. First, the all-black look is killer and sets it apart from other Vox amps like the AC. Then, I saw that it was 18 watts! Nothing huge, but I liked that about it since most amps are either 15 watts. Just another thing that sets it apart just a little bit. What I liked about this amp is that it has the classic Vox crystal-clear clean tone, but you have a little more control over your tone with the mid-range control and it's inherent American voicing. This is a great amp when paired with very responsive pickups. I plug into the high gain input so that when I play lighter, it's clean, and playing harder gives me just enough drive and, with it being all-tube, it has the warmest and richest overdrive just like anything you could hope for! And as a final note, I really like how simple and straight-forward this amp is. I looked for a long time for an amp that sounded good and didn't have so many knobs and switches, mainly because I planned on running a lot of pedals through it and I wanted the amp to be as simple as I could. This amp is everything I would have expected out of a Vox amp and better than what I hoped for!
Sound
Crystal-clear clean tones and tube-warm overdrive puts this amp up there with Vox ACs and Fender Blues and very responsive to playing. Plus, 18 watts goes a lot further than you might think.
Features
Simple controls and EQ, mid-boost and 'dark' switch help you dial in the tone that you want. This amp does exactly what I needed it to do.
Ease of Use
The simple controls and EQ are all you need in this amp. The simplicity of this amp is exactly what I was looking for.
Quality
The amp seems very durable. No problems yet, though I'm expecting the cloth cover won't last as long as the rest. Not really a big issue though.
Value
This amp costs as much as other amps of this size and quality, so not much sets it apart in that aspect, but given what I needed this amp to do, it does the job incredibly we'll and exactly the way I hoped it would, so it was worth it for me, but maybe not everyone.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had any problems with this amp, but Vox has always been fair with me on other things I've needed.
The Wow Factor
All-black look is cool and all my musician friends love the tone and quality. This is an amp that I'm proud to carry around with me.
