I always wanted a proper Vox. I started with the Night Train - ended up parting with it after a few gigs. This - the AC151CX - is extremely aweseome. I can get the classic Vox sound and pretty much any jazzy, blues to blues-rock sound. Actually, pretty good at country sounds too. The Blue Celestion speaker really makes a difference too. Quite happy with this purchase.

This is the first new amp that I have purchased in 11 years. I have always, and understandably, loved the Vox and Fender Princeton tone. I decided to go with the Vox, and couldn't be happier. I opted for the custom version with the Alnico Blue speaker, and it hasn't disappointed. Make no mistake that this thing gets loud! The Vox "chime" is unmistakable, and the clean tones are excellent. It also sounds amazing when you dial in that natural overdrive.Lastly, I have had this thing for a month, and it keeps sounds better the more broken in that it gets. If you don't like this product, then you may have been looking in the wrong direction in the first place.Cheers! Play on!

"VoxAC15 nice little amp"

I purchased this amp late 2015 when my England made Vox / Korg AC30TBX suffered a malfunction when it ingested a glass of water on the stage. I am in the process of rebuilding that sweet amp. In it's absence, I was using my Fender Hod Rod Deluxe, but it did not have the same "Chime" that Vox is so famous for. I was struggling on stage to get a tone that I liked or could live with in the time being. I wanted to get a lighter replacement for my Vox AC30 TBX for smaller gigs anyway. I purchased the Vox AC15 with Blue Alnico speaker for several reasons. I had one with the Blue Alnico back in the 1990's and loved it and remembered that it was a great sounding amp It was also of the Vox / Korg English made vintage, so I hoped that the Made in China version would be of comparison. I also needed a smaller amp because my AC 30 was realistically MUCH TOO LOUD in some of the clubs I play in if I wanted that "Sweet Spot" anyway. And of course an AC 30TBX is a heavy beast. Now I still love that amp and will rebuild it, but in the meantime I really wanted to go with the AC15. The amp is great. Price is right. Sound is very close to what I want in a 1X12" version of what I was used to. the reverb is great the AC30 TBX did not have that. the master volume is nice to help dial in that tone in a place that requires a lower volume. I does not have as much Clean headroom as my AC30 TBX, but that is to be expected given half the wattage, and only a 1X12" Blue Alnico combo VS a 2X12" Celestion Greenback Combo. I miss the tube rectifier from my AC30 TBX, and the AC15 hand wired has that, but was a little over budget. All in all a very fine amp that I enjoy playing out of.

I bought my Vox AC15c1x two years ago and its been my go to amp for everything. If you want the real Vox experience you must get this amp with the blue Alnico speaker. This is where you get that classic British chime. Very reasonable price -wise compared to the Fender amps. Don't let the 15 watts fool you, this thing will get loud. I'm very pleased with this amp and its built like a tank with looks to boot.
Sound
Don't expect to plug in and wonder where your tone can be found. It takes time to figure out how to shape the tone you want and thats the number one reason people dont like this amp. You have to know how to manipulate the master volume with your settings and you're not going to learn this in a weeks time. It took me several months to learn how to tweak this amp from the classic Beatles sound to the British invasion to blues to country to classic rock to hard rock to Fender-like cleans to whatever. The only genre i haven't tested was metal because i really never cared for metal tone but im sure this amp will cover it. A great pedal with this amp is the BB preamp stomp box.

This is by far the best sounding amp I have ever owned. User friendly, incredible sound, and not to heavy. I debated over the Fender Blues jr and Vox AC15 and decided to go with Vox, even though it cost a little more and I'm so glad I did. Nice clean tones and awesome distortion when you want it. Great for practicing around the house or take it to a gig. You won't be disappointed with this amp.Go for it.

I play: British Invasion, 60’s Psychedelic, Indie Rock and any jangly single coil sounds. I’ve been through all kinds of amps like Deluxe, Supro, and I still have a 65 Princeton reissue. This Vox is by far the best amp I’ve used. It does the thing, early Beatles, Pretty Things, Kinks, Byrds, Syd Barrett, 65-69 Stones… and that “doesn’t take pedals” is a subjective lie because not only does it take all my favorite overdrives and compressors, it does it better than any Fender amp I’ve ever owned. Good overdrive pedals sound incredible though this amp. It has this fuzzy texture without losing clarity, as good as it gets.

Hidden gem to me. Love the clean sound when paired with my Strat. Tremolo and reverb are fabulous. At first it sounded thin, but I checked out Jack Fossett's YouTube channel for tone tips; otherwise I may not have liked this amp. But dialed in just right, it sings! Thanks zZounds for a great deal and finance options! Fast shipping and no defects! Doing business with you again!

I think it is a good amp but is a bit to thin for use with single coil pickups. It has more than enough stage power but could have a thicker sound.
