While these are hands down the best plug ins available , the cost begins to skyrocket when you realize just how many instances you can run with this Octo card. I honestly believe the problem isn't the software, but these Shark processor chips which have gone unchanged in well over 10 year. They just pack more chips in rather than upgrading or updating them. The plug ins get more and more advanced requiring more and more of your DSP. Go to U audio website and look at the "instance chart" that shows you the best plug ins (massive passive , Neve 88rs and so on) can only run 8 total at 44hz recording? Ridiculous. To use this Octo card solo I have to max out the Octo card on just vocals, bounce and reinsert, then drums (bounce and repeat) and so on. Oh, and if you want to change that vocal track after you get the rest of the song done...you gotta start over. So, you end up with 5-8 saved versions of your song for each group, plus a master song version you bounce effected group tracks too... All just to avoid backing yourself into a corner. So, either buy 2-3 of these and drop $4,000 on Octo cards and a few plug in... Or just spend a little more and buy real hardware and forget plug ins. I love these, I use them, they sound great... But in hind sight I would have just started buying high end hardware had I known what the total cost was going to be. I am $2,000 deep and I can only add about 8-12 plug ins if I use some of the lower end "legacy" versions to save DSP.
