Once again a great product to zZounds. I love this interface in every way. If you are looking at it then you probably already know how awesome it is. Only negative is that a $800.00 interface should come with the thunderbolt cable. I received it on Christmas eve and was forced to go to best buy to grab a $40 cable. Definitely a let down after spending so much money on a new piece of gear you would think it would come included with such an expensive cable. Other than that 10/10

"Universal Audio's Apollo Twin"

The Apollo Twin is a great interface that helps to off-load some of the strain that your CPU can encounter when using plugins during recording and mixing. I use it with a Mac Mini i7 and 16gb of memory and can tell a significant difference in CPU usage in Logic Pro X and ProTools11 compare with my Focusrite Forte or my Antelope Orion. The ability to track with EFX in the cans and chose whether to print the track with or without those EFX is a nice feature, but doing it with minimal latency (I personally detect zero latency, but YMMV) is awesome when you consider this is a desktop interface. I've owned many interfaces from RME, Focusrite, MAudio, Antelope, Mackie and the Thunderbolt on the Apollo is right up there with most systems I've used and it really performs a bit better than the USB and Firewire options I personally used. I'm pretty sure the Apollo Quad will be my next investment with UA, very satisfied with every aspect of the ATwin. Solid!

This box instantly makes you more effective at mixing. The conversion quality is pristine, open, and transparent. The compression and eq plugins included are about the same as the Waves PuigTec EQ, and CLA76 and CLA-2A compressors, but the updated version of these plugins are far and above better than any emulation out there. Couple of downsides though is the dsp usage goes fast with the more powerful plugins and no daisy chaining devices because there is no second thunderbolt port. The build is rock solid and has a premium "macbook pro" type feel. The chassis is heavy, the knob travel is smooth, and the software is easy to navigate, very straightforward. (SN: Don't forget to record the effects to your tracks to manage dsp later in the mixing process.) All in all, if this piece of gear is above your price point, splurge! If it's at your price point pick it up and have some reserves left over for some non-legacy plugins. And if you can swing it go for the Apollo Quad!

This little box has totally upped my studio game! Really clean sound and pre's. But really the power is in the plugins that are bundled. The only one downside is now I'm hooked on UA plugins (but they are the best so it could be worse). The other thing is it would be nice if it came with a second thunderbolt port to bridge.

I bought this interface to use the unison preamp's that UAD offers and they sound amazing! I have used the vintage gear in a number of studios in Los Angeles and the vocals that I am getting through this interface are just as good as vocals I have recorded at big studios. I love the plugins that come with the interface as well. Overall great upgrade from my previous interfaces.
