For voice over I record with a TLM103 and this baby, the oh-so-little known Tascam UH-7000. This unit came on to the market at near $1000 about a year and 1/2 ago, now it's under $400. I have a feeling that Tascam had trouble marketing this Preamp/DI, thus the lower price. The quality is not why this thing is so inexpensive, that's for sure- I've used upscale Focusrite and Presonus units that cost more than 3-times the Tascam- and the clean, crisp and clear audio quality is superior to the audio from the aforementioned products. No exaggeration here! Tommy Griffiths/ voice over talent

Thanks zZounds for getting this unit to me so fast..2 days..Set up was easy. Install driver plug it in start recording into sonar platinum . Realy quite tight preamp. I had been recording into a sps 25 interface Roland and the tascam uh is crystal clear after comparing the two.

The reviews are correct. Major studio releases sound can be obtained with this unit in my honest opinion. Excellent audio quality. Pre amps are clean, open, and sounds professional, period. They are not thin, sterile, or cheap sounding that you get with most interfaces. You will need to use tube mics, some colored solid state mics, or external pre-amp/compressor for that warm fuzzy thing we all like on certain sources because you are not going to get that with these pres. They translate what the mic gives it without much coloration and in a very professional way. High Quality AD/DA Conversion. Best I have had. It beats all my old interfaces including the Duet. I'm not sure there is any other interface at this price range that will outperform this unit. Latency is on the HIGH side for sure in Logic X, but I didn't notice any lag when set to 128 and I was even able to use it at 64 with no pops or dropouts on a mac mini 2012. I never record with software monitoring anyway but for those that do this may be an issue. Still 5 stars from me!!

The reviews on this device are misleading, it's completely unsupported on MAC and crashes / stops working on practically any software that uses it's drviers. Tascam seems to have abandoned this product completely, which is sad because it sounds amazing for the first few minutes before it disconnects. Unfortunately I waited a bit too long to return it and now I'm stuck with a useless device I paid $400. It's a real shame the site would list this product as mac compatible and continue to sell something that is known to be unsupported.

For $400- you can't get a better deal on a product designed to do 2 things great.Listening to my tracks are like hearing them for the first time. The clarity is amazing. Downloading the drivers, install and setup was minutes. If you need more I/O then spend the money on something else, but I am going to take advantage of the digital AES input and connect myJoe Meek oneQ channel strip and Eleven rack. For $400 it's worthwhile just to have for playback. Thanks zZoundsfor the great service and payment options. Great way for me to celebrate the holidays!
