"GREAT FOR CHOIR TEACHERS, BAND DIRECTORS and INSTRUMENTALISTS"

Will use it for reference recordings until it dies.
Sound
Internal amp is not loud enough to use in a concert band setting where you want to play it back for students to critique. It will need to be hooked up to a sound system in order to overcome ambient noise in a larger rehearsal setting.
Features
Love it all EXCEPT for the lack of direct computer connectivity. mp3 to CD conversion takes much longer than a computer, so be prepared to wait, or just record in .wav to begin with.
Ease of Use
EASY!!
Quality
WELL done here. The screen could be just a touch larger. This product strikes me as very "prototypical", like Edirol's first flash recorder.....utilitarian.....needs some refinement in appearances/increased amplifier output/USB Connection.
Value
For teh money, it can't be beat.
Manufacturer Support
Have not needed it...manual is good.
The Wow Factor
A great piece of gear for the musician/director who needs those quick reference recordings and needs to squeeze out a CD or two of them.

It's a solid design - easy to use and great price!!! $200 less than Roland $600 less than Superscope! Larger than the Roland CD-2I CD/SD Portable Digital Recorder, and Superscope, I checked out, but the extra size means a larger internal speaker and a better play back sound quality - one of my students reported that the Roland had some surface noise on the recording. The Tascam has the Phantom Power option. The Tascam has the side loading CD slot - (Mac User) where as the Roland had a pop out CD tray, that felt like it would snap off as you have to press down pretty hard to snap the CD in to place (which seems unnecessary - the cd just sat in the tray on my old Superscope)

The Tascam bb1000 is great just as it is. I use it to record the group (Gospel) and the sound is just great. The only thing that i have a problem with is trying to connect equipment into the imput.
