The moment I wrapped my hand around around the slim, comfortable neck of this guitar, it felt like seeing and old friend again. I'm old enough to remember the old Strays when they weren't old. I've been blessed thru the years to have owned lots of guitars. Playing this Squire Deluxe brought back the joy I felt so long ago. The guitar had a good setup out of the box. I own a small guitar shop, and do setups every single day. Thus guitar did not need anything except fine tuning and playing. The Duncan pickups compliment the basswood body perfectly. Warm when you want it,and blazing when you want it. Fretwork is fine on this guitar. Satin finish on the neck is buttery smooth. Weight is perfect for long gigs. Not too heavy, and not too light. You could not ask for a better guitar. Trust my 52 years of experience playing guitar...You can't go wrong with this one. And you can't go wrong buying it from zZounds. Great service and great people. Go for it!

Mt wife asked me what I wanted for Valentines day and I pointed this guitar out. Of course she bought it for me being the sweetheart that she is. I am not a strat guy mainly because I hate single coil hum and previous real strats I have played sucked concerning the neck. My main guitar is a 30 fret Ibanez with action so low it plays itself. The stock pickups in it are pretty hot. I saw this one and liked the hum canceling pickups and wanted something to play Robin Trower tunes that was closer to the truth. First off, the neck on this is closer to a sixties strat with a friendlier 9.5 radius. That is a far cry from the 16 my Ibanez has but if you like strats I guess it is pretty nice. Took me some time to get used to. This has vintage frets on it: low and thin. Far cry from what I am used to.Straight out of the box I was not happy with it. But then I went to work on it. I replaced the strings with my custom super crazy extra light top and 38's bottom three strings. I let it sit three days with those on in case I needed to adjust the truss rod. I didn't need to. Next was to lower the action to get as close to the height on my Ibanez without the radius causing fret outs while bending on this radius neck. I was amazed how low I could get the action on a strat! The frets are not polished but I know after a few months of playing they will be fine. The pickups are great and let the tone of the body shine. Not as hot as my Ibanez but that is what I wanted with no hum. Nice woody tone from the neck, a bit midrange from the middle and fat treble from the bridge. Overall this guitar is a steal. My wife loves the tonal difference and I am going to start using it on stage. If you are a strat or tele guy this will blow you mind.

I love this guitar. Slim neck. Powerful pickups. Has a very clean sound all the way to headbanging distortion. Great blues sounds. Pickups can do any tone you need. Played through mustang III and line six. Plays and sounds as good as any usa model. Frets are smooth. Actions great right out of the box. Has great resonance unplugged. Cant say enough good about this guitar.

"Very nice guitar for the money."

First of all, I bought a blemished model, so I paid less than the full price for a new one. Out of the box, plugged in, the guitar wouldn't make a sound. After a few hours of disassembly, I found the problem, the volume pot was shorting out internally against some other wiring which I fixed. The things I liked: the tuners and 2-Point Synchronized Bridge were very substantial and worked well together and were of a much better quality than I expected. The feel of the neck is nice and slim; very fast. The intonation was fine and the action could be set quite lower if needed; I had no problem with fret buzz. The bad: I am a professional so..... if I were to use this guitar in order to make a living, I would swap out the pickups and get the instrument re-freted and dressed with quality materials.
Sound
The sound would be fine for most folks. The guitar is very quiet when not playing. Pick up quality, sound-wise was a bit muddy for my taste, maybe 3.5 out of 5.
Features
The wiring and shielding was pretty good, but the guitar cavity in my opinion is not routed large enough for the wiring and components. There is very little room for error. I believe this is why the volume pot shorted out. This is common with ALL guitar companies.
Ease of Use
Personally, I really liked the "feel" of neck. Easy to play; great for small hands...
Quality
The finish was fine. The guitar was solid; no loose parts or screws. The tuners and 2-Point Synchronized Bridge were very substantial and worked well together and were of a much better quality than I expected. The fret quality was low, it feels like sand paper when bending strings; the fret edges were a bit to sharp for me. These feel like medium frets; not medium jumbo frets. The intonation was OK and the action was decent.
Value
For the money, this one is a pretty good buy. I have played guitars for twice the cost that weren't as good. The last several Fender products I have purchased or tried out were of good quality.
Manufacturer Support
Fender has excellent customer support.

I bought this from zZounds and I'm very pleased with my purchase. With a full set up, this guitar plays great and sounds phenomenal. I love the pickups, they clean up well and have great sustain. The tremolo stays in tune with the gears that are supplied, but I'm going to put some locking gears on and make this thing a beast. I can't believe the quality of this guitar for the price.

I bought the Squire Deluxe because I love the way Fender Strats sound. What I didn't realize until I got my guitar was although it sounded good it really didn't sound like a strat to me. It has the hot rail pick ups on it and they just don't sound like a typical fendeer strat to me. I ended up sending it back for a refund and purchased the Fender standard MIM model instead. Everyone at zZounds was great about everything, and I am happy with my new guitar...now if i can just learn to play it like Jimi Hendrix did!

I bought the Squire Deluxe because I'm just now starting to learn to play at age 58 and didn't want to invest a large sum on an instrument. I am impressed with the quality of the guitar, it is well made and was ready to play straight out of the box. The only complaint I have is that the hot rail pick ups don't have that typical Strat sound that I expected. Other than that it plays nice, looks nice and is a good value.
