This bass drum pedal is not what I was expecting at all. I typically like to get a Bass Drum Pedal to match the brand of drum kit I have, and thought I would pick this little gem up. I found a few which were used (I'm cheap) but for some reason never ordered a used one, and I am glad I didn't. I ran across this SP473 for a price which was real close to the used prices I had seen, so I ordered it. It arrived today and I opened the box only to be shocked. This thing greeted me with the shiny metal uprights so polished, the sunlight coming off it almost blinded me.. Then I lifted it, and man, it weighs about twice what I thought it would weigh. The base (under the footboard is built to last, and is solid metal with a ribbed rubber sole. It is probably about 1/8" thick. The foot bed itself is aluminum and about a half an inch thick, complete with adjustable toe stop. The chain drive is fantastic and built to last....I'm am just amazed by the quality overall. Adjustments? I can't think of any adjustment you can't make to this pedal. It makes my favorite Ludwig Speed King look like a budget model pedal now, and I thought it was built...And as a matter of fact it looks a lot like the new Ludwig Atlas Bass Drum Pedal. except the price is about one fourth the cost of the Atlas. I recently bought the Sonor BOP kit, and now this pedal, so I am quickly becoming a Sonor convert, and a BIG zZounds fan. Don't need to think much about purchasing a bass drum pedal. I found THE ONE...No doubt.
