All musicians strive for a better sound. Most of the time, we are not happy with the sound we produce and feel we could improve, so we buy more expensive speakers, amps, vocal processors etc. We spend a fortune and yet there is always something niggling us about the sound....vocalist are the worst affected. Sorry for the long intro, but it's true.Vocalists....please note that the one thing you should be investing in above all is the very thing that projects your vocal signal. Many mics will do a great job within a small vocal spectrum, but a mic that can handle a low baritone vocalist and handle the high register of a powerful female vocalist is another matter.Like many singers, I too have owned all the usual well know mics, but I always returned to SM58's. The trouble was when I sung high notes it made them harsh. The Sennheiser e965 took them high notes and made them musical. All frequencies are well defined, full, warm and Natural. The large diaphragm is your friend not your enemy. Switch patterns inside the head to obtain the best sound and avoid feedback.... It is very resistant, more than expected. People may say that there is no point in using an expensive mic with a cheap system, but I disagree, the start if your vocal sound source should be the best it can be. Like I said earlier, we are never happy and will start improving by buying better more expensive equipment. Save up for the best quality mic around, you won't regret it!

The e965 is as rugged as any dynamic mic made. In fact, it is less breakable than many dynamic mics I've had. It has a much better sound than any dynamic mic. After you try an e965 any dynamic mic will sound vanilla and disappointing. As far as stage condenser mics I have used the e865 and an Electrovoice and while those mics are okay, the e965 is much better. It has a very clean sound and is worth the expensive price.
