I'd had the 4-string Raiden Special, so I was familiar with Schecter. I'd been looking for a 5 string, just to stop needing to drop tune. I'd played a few other brands, but hadn't dropped cash on them (some very nice, some that ... weren't.)
Ordering the 5 string without playing it first made me a bit nervous, but familiarity with the line was a plus. I unpacked it and the neck on this just felt perfect to me. Not too wide, not too thick, it fit me almost perfectly. It needed a touch of setup out of the box - about 1/8 turn on the truss rod for some low fret buzz - but other than that, it was ready to go.
Play other basses, give them a try - but don't pass this by. It's a very nice bass at a very good price.
