Having played and owned Gibson, one could say I was a snob in that I would only own Gibsons. However, given that my brand has more than out priced this poor musician, and not really liking the Fender Tele neck (though I think it's a great instrument) I decided to order my first ever on-line guitar... Was very nervous about buying a guitar that I have not ever tried out first. I can say that I am more than impressed. Impressed with zZounds customer service, impressed with that with a few minor tweaks of the truss rod and saddle, I was playing first gig within 24 hours of receiving this fine instrument. I would like to have seen this with push/pull pots, or maybe the sustainac, but it is of solid construction as nothing was loose, finish was absolutely stunning and the tone was righteous!

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
This is the 1st time I've bought non USA and online. This guitar is just great. I have been playing the better of 30+ years and I own MANY guitars, from Fender, Gibson and PRS. I'm playing through a Carvin V3. This is my 1st Schecter guitar and I must say except for some small things that are more about personal style than flaws, I'm very impressed. I've had it for 3 days now as I write this review and I've played it about 6 hours with the existing strings and set up, tuned down 1/2 step.
Sound
The EMG pups are HOT. If you've never had active pups then be prepared to do some tone tweaking. These pickups will drive a clean tube channel to breakup. They a have ton of headroom as compared to passives. They drive my Carvin's clean channel to a beautiful Plexi like crunch on full but will clean up as you roll down the volume. The sound is clear, raw and articulate. Think a Les Paul on steroids. This guitar sounds as good as others I own that cost twice as much. No problem finding metal, hard rock or even driving blues tones out of this guitar. Just know your amp.
Features
Well not much to say about the features...locking tuners, 2 active humbuckers, 3 way switch, volume, tone...pretty simple.
Ease of Use
The sound was different at 1st with the actives. I had to make some amp adjustments to find my tone. The extra jumbo frets are a different feel too. Quality fretwork is laid into a slim compound radius neck that has a fast feel. If you plan on using this guitar live with other guitars equipped with passive pickups, be prepared for some output differences between them.
Quality
This guitar is made in South Korea and it's my first non USA made guitar. It appears to be made very well. The transparent black finish is subtle but beautiful and I could find no flaws. The parts are quality. I played a Jackson from Indonesia in same price range that a buddy owns...this Schecter Tele blows it away in all aspects. I wish I had found this before I bought this high dollar Gibson LP I just shelled out for.
Value
Overall I would buy this guitar again. I think it's as good a guitar as any other guitar costing twice as much. Les Paul sound without the big price tag.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with them.
The Wow Factor
This guitar just looks different than the norm and was a big selling point for me. The finish is subtle and the Tele body with the modern appointments make it a strikingly different instrument.

"Literally Perfect (for me)"

First I have to say that I’m used to passive pickups (typically hot Seymour Dunkin’s) in strats and Les Pauls. I saw reviews of this guitar but never played one. First impression: super lightweight, gorgeous finish, insanely playable neck, and omg the tone. I have to tweak the settings on my amp when I switch between my strat and this due to the extremely different pickups. But dialing in great tone only took a few minutes. Now it’s quick to just switch back and forth and adjust a couple knobs on the amp, or presets on my practice amp. The quality I’d honestly compare above a standard US fender or Gibson. Seriously, I even traded in an American fender for this, so believe me, the schecter is that good. I’ve played lots of US guitars and honestly they are overpricing themselves in recent years, and quality control from fender and Gibson are terrible these days. I wanted a guitar geared towards harder rock and metal, and this guitar sings. It’s great for blues, rock, and metal. It’s great clean or distorted. I honestly can’t rave enough about it. It’s so versatile, I’d honestly say if I had to choose one guitar, I’d choose this. Amazing fit and finish. Mine came set up almost perfect, but the tweaks it needs are just to preference. All in all, I gotta say I’m shocked this is under $2,000. Huge shoutout to Zzounds. The guitar came packaged well. Arrived the next day (which is unbelievable) with free shipping. This guitar has me thinking I’ve been buying the wrong guitars all along. It’s literally perfect for me. It’s easy to get great dirty blues with a twist of the volume, then crank the volume for creamy leads, or crank the gain and churn out some really heavy riffs and nail biting solos. And the cleans are absolutely beautiful. It’s the nicest guitar I’ve ever played, and I’ve owned USA artist signature guitars, Gibson, Fender USA, and PRS USA. Basically I’d say this guitar effortlessly churns out the sound I’ve always had to work to get out of other guitars. And it’s just amazing to play.

As the owner of several makes of guitar and finally gave Schecter a chance a 18 months ago I have been happy every since. Great Playing and looks that kill. WOW. I got the new Hellraiser PT looking for another guitar I didnt have hoping it would sound killer and the guitar was beyond my expectaitions. Absolutely flawsless and having such great tones to work with on a neck that you just feel at home with. This Hellraiser Hybrib Pt is definetly the most beautiful of all my guitars. Lounds insane. Looks and plays like a several thousand dollar custom guitar. It is awesome.

Owning 2 other Schecter guitars I thought this would be a piece of art and I was not disappointed. I only had to lower the action slightly and tune it and Wow was I amazed at these pickups and playability of the neck. The tone is like paf on steroids. Not a flaw in the fit the fit and finish anywhere and the frets are perfectly polished and ends rounded. I havent had the guitar but about a month and still learning the pickups. They sound different and respond differently than the 81/60s in my Banshee GT. I have several brands of good guitars but I havent had a Schecter that after a little breaking in and bonding time I havent loved. The first 2, that I purchased had to be set up and a little work to get the FR tremolo's proper but the way they sound and play makes it all worth it. Incredibly stable after strings are broken in, requireds tuning and usually just a tweek here and there.
