I saw this guitar and knew I had to have it. I fell in love with the look of it, and finally purchased it and couldn't be happier. It sounds great, looks great, and is built to last. The only concern I had when purchasing this guitar was tilt. A quick adjustment took care of it completely. The finish is great, the logo on the 12th fret looks fantastic. It's a simple, but beautiful looking guitar. The EMG 81/89s sound amazing. I love to play heavy stuff, but for those other times you can use the coil tap to get the single coil sound out of it, and you would think you had a Fender in your hands. You can play the heaviest riffs and quickest leads with no trouble on the fast neck. The size is perfect, it's not so big that you can't reach the low E string and not so thin as to feel like there's nothing there. The weight is good overall, and provides excellent sustain. The ultra-access cutout is great to help reach those high notes on those tough solos. The Floyd Rose bridge is great. Your guitar won't need a retuning for a very long time, no matter how much dive-bombing is going on. The controls are simple, with just volume and a pickup switcher, but they work easily with no issues. If you're having any doubts, buy this beast and try it out. You won't be disappointed!

This Is a good guitar with a bad pickup selection.. the neck isnt bad and the single coil option is a plus.. however the tone is high pitched and the bridge pickup is unusable .. it is dog whistle high.. the second problem with this guitar is there is no tone control to tame or dial in a good tone .. .The final major beef is for a metal ax you cant turn up the gain on an amp over40% without it sounding like total garbage.. I have a set of Zak Wildes in my explorer and they are hands a far better combination than whats in the Gary Holt... Gary Holt does not use active pickups so its more of an endorsement copy more than a true signature model guitar. for the price of this guitar they really shoulnt have let it out the door without playing it themselves
