Schecter Damien Elite 8 8-String Electric Guitar

The Schecter Damien Elite 8 offers mean tone and a wide range. With EMG Active 808 humbuckers, the Schecter Damien Elite 8 sounds great too.

this one wont be replaced. i will be adding more of these
Sound
The EMG's sound great whether you are playing clean or distorted. They are bright, punchy, and responsive.
Features
no accessories, However, the pickup swith in nicely placed. The inlays look much better in person than they do online. I was a little worried about those at first but they grown on me. The arch top is very well done.
Ease of Use
The only learning curve you may face is if you are coming from a 6 string to this. I moved from a 7 string so it only took a couple of hours to get used to the 8th string. The action was pretty typical if you are used to Ibanez or Jacksons you will find the action is very similar. The neck is cut more like a Jacksons so if you are used to the wizard II necks on ibanez that may take a small period of adjustment.
Quality
the guitar is rock solid. it feels like a boulder on my shoulder. it's finish was impeccable. far far beyond what i had expected for this price range. the guitar does not go out of tune. you can gig with it leave it in the case for a couple of days and when you get it back out to practice it is still in tune. the sustain lasts FOREVER even unplugged or on a small practice amp. there is no bad aspect of quality at all.
Value
i've owned guitars that cost 3 even 4 times more than this cost and it is the only guitar that i have owned that out of the box required no custom setup. it played and sounded the way i wanted it too. it outplays every guitar i have ever owned.
Manufacturer Support
i did use support to register the warranty rather than send in the card. they were very quick to respond and very polite and helpful.
The Wow Factor
it's appearance is beyond reproach...it is impeccable. I have the crimson red finish and the quilted maple looks outstanding. the finish is perfect.

"Not buying this guitar is one of the worst mistakes you could make."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
My lead guitarist bought one of these, in crimson red, for our band to record with until I could afford my own. It's quite possibly the best guitar I've ever played. I've played a couple of 7-strings, and I couldn't stand them, something about them was just a major turn-off, and one of the ones I played was a very nice Japanese Ibanez, I just couldn't adjust. This 8-string was quite the contrary, as soon as i fretted the first note, I knew that I was alway meant to play an 8-string and this was the exact one I plan on buying in the next couple of months. I had been considering the Blackjack ATX 8, but it's hard to imagine it being very superior to the Damien Elite 8, I could be wrong, but this guitar blew my mind on every level, playability, tone/sound quality, quality of build, and most of all, the value of it for the money. If clean tones are muddy for you, all you have to do is dial back the volume knob just a tad, and it cleans right up. Clean tones sparkle, distorted tones dominate, it's like being in a dream every time I play this guitar. I left manufacturer support at 2.5 because I haven't had to deal with them, but I've never heard anything negative about Schecter.

"Beginner : Schecter Damien Elite 8-string guitar"

It's a solid guitar and a little heavy. I used an Ibanez Chromatic tuner "PU30", it tuned it with ease. Then I went to Utube for lessons. Some people wanted to play it like a six string with two extra strings, that they retuned. Others who knew what they were doing, played it as an eight string ; it was fantastic as the 8-String! You can get lessons on Utube free and play it as the 8-String that it is.

"I had to do a little work to it. "

As stated in the title, I had to do a little bit of work to this guitar, the entire 1st fret on the neck for all strings buzzed hardcore and I couldn't even get the slightest sound out of it. But I adjusted the trust rod with a 1/4 right turn and it knocked it out. Other than that, this guitar is sexy, brutal, and beautiful. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic guitar, nice pickups and neck. I was leery of the neck joint as I read mixed reviews on its ''bulkiness'' but it is fine. I played a through neck hellraiser 7 string at guitar center just for comparison and the difference was very minor.

Schecter Damien Elite 8 Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Its a basic 8-string that you can't go wrong with, reliable, solid construction, and good looks if not the best (opinions)
Sound
Great sound a little different that the les paul, probly cuz the active pick ups... rated it 9 cuz I had to play quiter to not loose notes in the clean channel(only) but I've never had active pick-ups, and it works fine when you quiet it down a bit
Features
24 frets not 22!!. nice black finish on the accessories.
Ease of Use
not that much harder to use than a 6 string les Paul, In fact not harder at all, takes a little getting use to more strings and frets, the size feels just right, good for those who like something a wee bit bigger than your 6 string guitar.
Quality
Great finish and fit, had no blemishes on mine, has a basic yet more feel to it.
Value
8 strings~
The Wow Factor
8 strings, Great looks
