"Ok on their own but superlative with a good powered sub"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The only thing out performing it is the Mackie SMR 450 or JBL EON if used without a sub woofer. However and this is a big however, when using the internal crossover on a sub where the frequency is cut off from 120HZ on down and all of a sudden the bottom is being taken into account by a decent subwoofer the hold on to your undies LOL, it performs comparably to the Mackie SMR 450 and that is saying a lot. The price is unreal, the performance at the price point is unreal, the warrantee is 3 years. The sound quality is there. I've used them for just music and in a band situation and they shine period. Capable of very high sound levels and very feedback resistant. As good as anything as part of a crossed over front of house system a little weak in the bottom end on their own but adequate, therefore a solid 9.
Sound
Crisp, clear, clean but lacking just a tad on bottom end at very loud levels.... repeapt very loud levels!!! Does what the Mackie SMR 450 does but not as much bottom end at high volume, tone is very close.... more on this later.
Features
Not as feature laden as some such as built in cross over for sub woofer or built in mid sweep but has what you need, nothing is perfect but deserves a solid 8, what is there works very well
Ease of Use
Manual? what for? as easy as it gets
Quality
It's well built, solid feeling and nothing about suggests it's value priced
Value
They could sell it for 50-60% more and still get it, powered for the price of passive.
Manufacturer Support
3 year warantee, I've never dealt with them but I know someone who has and he was happy. Samson products tend to be very reliable.
The Wow Factor
Dollar for dollar without comparison, very high SPL and very clean and crisp and project really well.

I buy equipment every year and I will be looking at these again only the 15" model for that little extra bottom end.
Sound
I've been in the business for over 30 years and this is the best money your gonna spend for 12" powered speaker. I only wish the 15" D415A were out when I purchased these I would have bought them for a little more bottom end.
Features
No accessories just Speakers. Built in EQ and great Dynamic sound.
Ease of Use
East as pie. If you can read you can use these.
Quality
Heavy Duty!
Value
Compared to Mackie, JBL, Crown, and B52, forget about it! Samson has them all beat with quality, Sound, And price.
Manufacturer Support
I had no problems.
The Wow Factor
Very Streamline and light About 35lbs. with a 400 watt power house under the hood. Lots of power with crisp clear and very little clipping if any.

"Nice 'n' Tight"

I got one of these to try out as a floor monitor. Having run multi-amp systems for years, I was attracted to an active monitor; far fewer cables running back and forth; can be tweaked at your feet; and no worries about amps matching. So far this has been exactly what I had hoped for. Even running a full mix, everything is detailed enough for me to clearly hear my vocals over my screaming guitar rig. The multiple positions for using as a monitor are great. These aren't thump cabinets, yet the detailed transients of the bass and kick still come through beautifully. Reasonably priced and easy one hand carry handle. There's no complaints. Only time will tell about reliability. I'll be buying more to equip the band.
