"outsanding arranger/synth combination."

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Great product with a lot of innovations for a cheap price
Sound
High quality fantom x and sonic cell sounds, it has even SRX expansion sounds as well. I can't believe this goes under 1 grand, it has full arranger functions and dedicated buttons, works as a synth as well. Usb player/recorder/sequencer is a great feature
Features
World and latin styles and voices are great, the most realist brass section I ever heard for a keyboard at this price range. SRX expansion are missing analog controls well structured buttons.
Ease of Use
It's a roland product, you need to get used to it..
Quality
Looks well constructed, although it's not stylish, it looks professional
Value
for this kind of price you won't find anything better
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed it yet.

Roland GW-8 Workstation Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
A wonderful keyboard for live playing. It has got superb sounds and very catchy styles. I own the European version, which also has ethnic, oriental and Indian tones (world tones). However I miss Whistle sound in this great workstation. Also, its a bit difficult to play style by turning beat off for a little while during live playing. As a whole its an amazing machine which can make the evenings memorable.

"Onboard sequencer is a waste."

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I want to replace it because of its sequencer problem.
Sound
Sound quality is OK. But th effects are applicable only for live performance but not for recording. SO the sequencer section is very poor.
Features
D Beam, Melody intelligense and USB player are OK. But it is not helpfull for a performance.
Ease of Use
It is easy to use.
Quality
Product is made well and its LCD display is Fine
Value
For live performance it is OK. But roland is included a an onboard sequencer but it is not usefull. So it is not worth of this price.
Manufacturer Support
Roland is not giving proper answer for the questions.

"Hidden facts are there. Dont buy GW8"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Anyway I want to replace it. Because it cannot satisfy my requirements. I never suggest this product to anybody. Yamaha PSR 630 or 640 was far better than this one.
Sound
Gw8 sounds are of good quality
Features
What features there in GW8 ? I didn't see anything more from a normal low cost Yamaha keyboards. Roland is saying USB memory player is a great feature. For this we can use a MP3 player. no need Roland Gw8. We cannot call it as a workstation. It doesn't have options. Also Roland is cheating the customers by hiding some facts. It has a set of MFX effects to sweeten the tones. But these effects cannot apply for recording the song. That is why it is not a workstation.
Ease of Use
Actually it is easy to understand. But for actual use it has not defined well. in details. I have selected a performance bank No:1. after I trying to play a song from the song list. By the time selected performance will disappear. Roland is saying song is a backing track. but we cannot use the song as a backing track. Because without any reason the selected tone is changing according to the playing song.eg.If the song is playing strings we can play strings on keyboard and if the song is playing piano we can also play piano. this ia a stupidity made by roland.
Quality
The product hardware is well and good
Value
Price is not much but the described features are not usefull.
Manufacturer Support
Roland has an email support. But the answer is not to the questions. They will copy and paste a sentence from the owners manual. It is not usefull.
The Wow Factor
It is good looking

"a "consumer arranger keyboard" with pro sounds and features."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If you have a good ear for quality sounds, and wish to learn or want an arranger this is the most reasonable bang for the buck.. forget com
Sound
The sounds in the GW8 are a subset of the Fantom G.. are vastly superior to its predecessor the GW7.. Compared to other arranger keyboards in this price range this is simply excellent.
Features
Again.. this is an arranger, not a synth. The backing styles include up to 8 accompanying instruments, each of which can be adjusted for volume or muted. Variations in intros, mains and fills vary from simple to complex... Sequence is a big improvement over the GW7 (which i have) allowing simple functions and layering of tracks on a mix/replace basis.. MOre than good enough for this type of product.. want a better seqencer..go buy the Juno G.. but this is an arranger.
Ease of Use
Relatively simple to get started, though intricacies of partview and sequencing take some time to get used to.. But if you can play, it is relatively easy to start setting up and saving performances.
The Wow Factor
The silver of the GW7 was nicer looking..
