By far the best usb audio interface under $1,000 clean preamps, high quality DAC, Optical input to expand I/O's and its bus powered so its very portable. But the most impressive thing is this interface's audio driver they are sooo reliable.

I can only say good things about RME. The Babyface Pro provides studio grade performance, has also proved to be an outstanding interface for live use. The TotalMix FX mixer/matrix offers top quality kit. The DAC blew me away, I was not expecting this level of performance from a USB interface under a grand. RME has convinced me, I am all in! I upgraded from an iD14; I tried the beautiful iD44 but it had issues with W8.1 laptop. RME drivers are rock solid, no hype there. The preamps are smooth w zero colour. I like them, also appreciate that the 1/4" input jacks handle instrument levels as well as allowing me to use outboard preamps. Highly recommended unit, a steal at this price.

"It's worth the $$$"

The Scarlett series from Focusrite is a popular item, but I had decided to go a little more pricey. This thing fit the bill. It was an upgrade from my horrible Motu 2408MK3. Sure I lost a lot of I/O, but I more than made up for it in sound quality and other handy features. It's not terribly complicated and sounds really good. PT 10 on my PC saw it and easily made the switch. PT10 would have a fit any time I did anything with my Motu, but not this guy.

There is a whole lot going on "under the hood" ...the software is extensive and it will take a while for me to learn it, for me thats a good thing. The DAC is ear opening. I immediately started remixing tracks I previously thought were fine because the flaws jumped out at me! The drivers are solid. This will help me get things a whole lot more translatable.I've been through 3 interfaces for as long as this thing has been around and now have remorse for not just getting this in the first place. I'm a RME fan now
